How far into flower is it too late to clone?

So anyways I have some confirmation that the 2 plants I put into flower are female, and they went into 12/12 on the 10th of September, so they have little bud sites, is it to late to clone, how much of a setback or is this optimal time to clone?

They should root fine but will take at least a couple weeks to reveg before they start vegetative growth again. You're close to 20 days in so it might take up to a month or more depending on strain. Best to take them around day 7-10 IME.

and when you take clones in flower they usually shoot out tons of tops like if it was lst'd. i dont even top my plants sometimes because of that and that was just 2 weeks into flower when i took those. they call it some sort of cropping maybe monster? or something i cant remember but they shoot out branches everywhere if they are late in flower.

Believe it or not.... I have taken successful clones off of harvested plants before (that last second, 'shit, may as well try, I have nothing to lose'.. ) that I had had hanging for close to 24 hours..

I wouldn't suggest this as a standard practice..; ha ha..

Lol - well you got me beat on that one !
I've cloned the week of harvest - and it takes a hell of a long time to root & reveg, but it was a plant I simply couldn't let go.
I'll post pics later when I get home if you want - looks silly to have just a mature bud sticking out of the soil.
