175w MH = 3 feet high/ 4 feet length.

400w MH = 4 feet high/ 6 feet length.

1000w MH = 5 feet high/ 8 feet length.

Are you talking about their coverage area? Because you wouldn't hang the lights that far away from your plants.

If you are asking how close to put your light to the plant a good rule of thumb is that you should put your hand at the top of your plant and if it is not uncomfortable for your hand then it should be OK for your plant.. PEACE

That is not useful at all. Lights should be kept as close to your canopy as possible. The closer you get the lights, the larger the amount of use able PARs and Lumens.

here is a more useful tip. Cool your lights and move them closer. Cooled right you can easily get a 600w hps about 6 or 8 inches away from the canopy. some can even get them closer
