How long can i go without watering my plant!?

Sup stoners, first thread or post of any sort. I have a purple power plant, 4 weeks vegged. I am heading to long island for 4 days for a big renevation job and need some advice badly on how long i can push it without water. A couple weeks ago, i left for 2 days and two leaves (6 fingers) completely died, i cut them and the rest of my plant is completely healthy. I left my light on, but turned the fan off. I am considering giving my house key to the one neighbor i trust, a hippy granma, but id prefer not to just because i havent told her about it. Sooo, homemade drip system, cut up sponges, flood the soil and dont worry about it? help a niggaaaaa

If you got a little cash they make those "aqua globes" and most gardening stores have them. What size pot are you using? I've done the flood the shit out of them and pray method, worked for me more or less but it was only 2 extra days w/o water.

If hippie grandma blazes, she probably won't mind watering a single plant or two for a j when you return :D. If you have a grow op... i'd suggest keeping it to yourself

once the plant runs out of water in the soil, it begins to dehydrate, this happens fast, and faster depending on the amount of light. under an HID, within a day or 2 of beginning to dehydrate and not getting any water, the plant will be dead.

What is an aqua globe and can i find it at wally world? My plants are in a styrofoam cup, i cut the bottom off and transplanted into another about 5-6 inches of soil, so call it a 10-12" pot. How much flooding would be too much? I would just flood the soil not inside the cup to not drown it as easily. Would watering it every other day instead of every day till i leave help it not go into shock?

That she does, even hooks me up every now and then when im in need. i trust her because shes harmless and had a grow house of her own

i plan on pulling up the light quite a bit, would keeping the fan on make the soil dry out quicker and u got an idea of how much i can flood it?

They are glass or plastic, have a fat circular globe up top that tapers into like a turkey baster shape at the bottom fill the turkey baster side with water and stick that side in the soil. As the soil dries up the water pressure is relieved and the water in the globe will water the soil. I'd say thatd give you plenty of time man. Dont worry too much about water frequency until you leave, just go as usual. Do you have good draining soil? If so you can drench the shit out of it before you go, just get it as saturated as possible. Clay heavy soils may be your demise, but it should hold water long enough to make it through the week.

Wally world should have them my man.

Unless you got a five foot plant in a half-gallon pot, four days shouldn't be a big deal. Cut the light back to 16 hrs. water good the day before and the day of leaving, Should hold it three days a least and then you'll be back to give it a drink.

You answered your Q if you have any worries man. Either the aqua globes or have granny come take a look, maybe she can even give you some tips if she has any experience.

Its hard when your not in a med state, but if you are, i would put good money down that granny isn't gonna rip you of your little ladies.

Huge difference between a few plants for personal and a grow room when it comes to security. IMO

Thanks alot man, that actually made sense to me. And I have no type of drainage system, and for soil i got this "jumpstart" shit i got from the hydroponics store, its loaded with nutes and had my seedling 2 inches tall in two days so i decided to break it all up and use that soil.It still has been growing over an inch per week

no Drainage.... SHITTT drill some holes in the bottom of your pot man, that will make for a muddy situation if you take my tips... You want saturation without mud. Hard to do when the water has nowhere to go!!!

No doubt man, just a few plants and i plan on burning every single oz of it. I live adjacent to a baptist church, and the good people in my hood are just nonviolent criminals like us, so its hush hush on the grow op and work an actual job

Haha, appreciate the constructive criticism homie my pots are long and rectangular, would it be safe balancing it on top of a tackle box?

With the other things suggested, lights up, less hours, all that shit will slow transpiration. If its a total of 4 days, just give the medium a solid watering before you leave, should be fine, if its more than that, I'll try to come up with some makeshift solution for you. setting up on a tackle box to raise the pots? not sure what you mean? Gmas know all about hush hush except when they're playing cards, gossip central hah.

Nope, a tackle box because its the same shape as my grow box, for a drainage system. If i drill a few holes and make a drainage system, will it not mud at all? If i did that I would probably just flood it a moderate amount to not overwater it and cut up some sponges also. Hahaha, thats so fuckin true, but in a shifty bluffy kind of way. I trust her enough with my house key and plants, so ill call her my plan a shes just not always in town tho. Either way, thanks for the grow tips bro much appreciated

No prob, sounds like you got it man with the tackle box, drilling holes will allow all the excess water at the bottom of the pot to "runoff" giving you much less of a chance of overwatering. If you have other plants around your place as well they will dig the water that runs off into the tackle box. GL with the job, your plants will hopefully show you some vigorous growth while your away. :bigjoint:
