How long do you veg?

I was wondering how long people generally veg? I know it depends on strain, conditions, etc. I was just wondering why people pick the veg times they do? Thanks in advance for all replies.

So 12 plants go with a 6 week veg and 24 plants go with a 3 week veg? Assuming running clones not seeds and hydro not soil? I'd love more input?

i have 4 plants and 4x4 tent i vegged for 5 weeks from seed now they crowded inside they was 5 plants im grateful that one turned out to be male otherwise no space for it inside 3 plants in my tent will be perfect same veg time and i use large pots if you get smaller pots your plants stay small

It really depends on a lot of things..........but mainly the "over-crowding" issue dictates the veg period. I always end up going between 4-5 weeks, never longer and rarely shorter.

lights, space, grow medium are all relative but it depends what you want ....little and often or larger quantities but prepared to wait that few extra weeks could see massive improvement in yield....you can grow 2 plants and get 10oz or you can grow 20 plants shorter veg and produce the same ......?????no brainer for me stick to 2 all the time

The longer you veg the better your yield will be....Or least that's what Ive read most around riu and other grow site's.. Within reason mind...no need to veg for the next year ...lol...I dont count the first two week of seed ....Then go 6 to 8 week ....well this is my first grow so i shall see how it works out ...here is 9 plants to give you an idea of how they fill out....View attachment 2695535View attachment 2695536

i grow landrace sativas, they dont stop growing in flower, an inch a day for 20 weeks is a big lady. i dont veg at all combined with purpose root bound i end up with a 4 ft plant yielding 2-3oz...so many variables to veg time, indicas dont really stretch and will just bulk so you could veg for 6 weeks.... then space limits, how you grow sog scrog very different. lighting aswell...hope i helped

Personally I'm going to switch into flowering right or shortly after I get pre flowers. First grow though I'm excited once I see they're girls they're flowering.

Thanks to all. Space as far as width is no issue. Planning to use Ebb and Cap with I believe 2 gal buckets. Rockwool (Grodan mini-cubes) as the medium covered with the "the rock that doesn't roll" to prevent algae. A couple 600 watt HPS. The problem is ceiling height. I only have about 78 inches to work with. I heard topping or fimming with a short veg time effects yield. I'm just scared that not topping will cause height issues. Could I veg week 1, top week 2, and flip after week 3 and get a decent yield. Strains considering G-13 Pineapple Express, Cali Connection Sour OG (Aka 818 Headband), Cali Connection Larry OG, TH Seeds Chocolate Chunk, unknown Critical.

78 inches is plenty, you dont need to worry about height lol do whatever you want.. short of a landrace sativa im not sure its even possible.you definately need to veg longer than 3 weeks if you want to approach that

Thanks I just hear everyone talking about stretch during flower my plan was to top them at about 24 inches then flip a week or so later. Judging by the replies I might be better suited waiting until they are 24-36 then topping.

I allways veg until pre-flower. or 4-6 weeks with clones.
Space should not be an issue. (Look at a Bonsai Plants or Micro Grows) with all your topping and pruning, and training techniques, plus chemicals like bush master to control growth.
People run out of space because they don't know how to control the growth of there plants.

I've grown Acapulco Gold indoors. one plant was 7' tall. I had to lay it down. the other I controlled the height. It was 5'.

Never heard of bush master. Who makes it and how does it work?
Humboldt makes it. It stops elongation. I use it in once in flower. I get 2-4" of stretch. It breaks the plants axial dominance, from what I understand of it. it's nice because you can veg your plant to the exact height you want, give it the Bush Master and there's your height.
Humboldt it very good IMO. everything I bought from them works.
They make "Snow Storm" it increases trichromes on your buds.

(Pic) secondary bud leafs covered with trichromes so much the leafs curled around.

It really depends on your space you have first then did you top your plant or low stress train it things like that that would make them wide bushes. I would say veg around 2ft tall if you are not sure. If you veg them too big when you go into budding youre gonna have soo much over crowding from the stretching phase and bud development ect, and then all the terrible things that come along with that mold pest ect.

My best advice do it around 2ft if youre not sure. hope that helps.
