It'll keep longer than you can keep your hands out of that jar! If properly cured and the RH is <65% I've read smoke reports where it had been vacuum sealed in mason jars for 5 years. Simply putting in a mason jar and screwing the lid on is not the same as vacuum sealing

I use these once cured

DO NOT FREEZE YOUR BUD! Ever heard of freezer burn!

DO NOT listen to ANYONE with a post count of 17 either. Just saying'

dude if its in a bag its not gonna get burned, its vegetation not meat!so it doesnt matter if its crunchy crumbly dry or if its still fluffy stuffy!

im sorry, i didnt mean to offend you, i know now that since you have stoner status then no matter what i say with my stranger status makes sense or is right!

Dude.... anything with ANY amount of moisture will develop freezer burn. Period. The End. Go pull the chicken out of your freezer and take a look at it. Beyond that the tric's may freeze, become brittle and then fall off. Why even chance it when a mason jar is GUARANTEED to protect.

PS. I'm not pissed off.

im pretty sure a few months at least. i mean i keep bud around for a long time sometimes and its still potent. to be honest how old do you think some of that weed at the dispensary? i think if you just seal up the jar and open it every now and again it could stay like that for a couple years without a major drop in potency

Store it in a sealed jar complete dark at 44* F and it degrades really slow. There. Chart some on light and temp and degradion Google or shearch.

Buds do not get freezer burn. They don't even get hard. It is ready to smoke about 5 minutes from the freezer.

I've froze buds with and without vacuum sealing.

I have never seen any legitimate data on THC testing done before and during any extended timeline. However, I hope to do some very soon once my Cannalytics kit comes in. One would assume that vacuum sealed would prove to extend the shelf life of the product considerably as it does with all other foods herbs. Like Hydrodawg said, you can't just stick them in a mason jar and tighten the lid though. Although it's pretty tight, there is still amount of air leakage from that and thus oxidation and degradation of the THC will still be occurring. I like to leave my stuff in jars for 6 months max, then it gets vacuum sealed.

Let me be clear. I may have misspoke. When I say freezer burn I mean the crystallization of the moisture in the bud. Freezing bud in NOT advisable.

Also, bud will continue to cure in the jar for a long time. When you freeze it the curing process stops.

i think once you move out of the cure zone (65%-55%)RH you just lose the taste not the stone.I have some nuggs that are well over a year old that are sitting at 52%rh and they dont taste the same as the did a year ago but still get me ripped!

freezing buds isnt bad!!! i agree that it will cause crystalization and break down the plant content however we are smoking it not eating it so that really doesnt matter and the thc glands dont freeze and rupture so imo freezing bud really isnt that bad but really cant be good

Well, I have less than 17 posts , but I have stored bud for extended periods in mason jars that were vacuum sealed, stored in the dark at an average temp of about 67F. I opened a jar the other night that was....wait for it....8 years old. It was my oldest remaing jar. The bud was still good and still potent. As potent as when it was first jarred? That's hard to say as it's been 8 years since I have had the original, fresh product, but 2-3 hits got me feeling good...my gut tells me it might be slightly less potent, but I have no quantitative measurement data to confirm or refute my gut. I do think it proves that it is possible to store it for extended periods, if stored properly. Just how much it degrades would require testing.
