How long to germinate my seeds?

I started the germination of my seedlings two days ago. Of the 10 seeds that were started only two have cracked and have tiny little white things coming out. How long is it going to take to fully germinate my seeds?

Please help my babies!

I was going to refer to growfaq.
It's not there.
I guess it is a simple question.

The seed will absorb the water until they are about to burst.
I like to soak mine for 12 hours or so in a mason jar.
Some people talk about them floating or not.
Not real sure what to say about that.

I then place mine on a wet napkin on a styrafoam plate. I then place a damp napkin on top and another plate on top.
I then place all of this in a cabinet that is really dark.
I usually do not even check back for atleast 24hrs or more.
I tend to forget.
I had one seed with like a 6-7" root. (it was really forgotten about).
I would say my method is running about a 95% germ rate.
I bet I could get that one to germ if I tried.

Here check out this thread of fdd's if you have not already:

My seeds still aren't doing much of anything. There are three seeds that have cracked and you can see very little white but the white isn't coming out of the seeds. It is staying inside the seed like a pistachio nut. What's going on?

I have my seeds in a cup with a paper towel wrapped around the inside of the cup. The seeds are between the cup and the paper towel. There is water in the bottom of the cup, so the seeds are getting plenty of water but not too much water.

Fold a paper towel into the size of a cd case.place the seeds in the middle inbetween the layers and then soak the towel good till it is heavy with water. Put it in a cd jewel caser then in a plastic bag then in a dark drawer. The seeds should pop quick. I did 6 seeds last week and 5 of 6 popped in 24 hours and the last little Blueberry seed took 3 days. All were put into dirt about 2-3 days ago and are all young seedlings about 3 inches tall now and getting second branches.Good luck

I placed a couple of seeds in a cloth. Folded it up and place it into a jar and placed a lid over. I put distilled water about a 1cm in the jar. Keep it in my kitchen cupboard, where most of my seed usually germ at. Is it a good idea to place a lid over it?
One more thing i use to germ in my shed and plus there was sunlight shinning through it too. Some how the seed germ faster. I placed those in a white plastic plate with water just enough that it won't dry out for a day or too. No lid it was just under a box that had a side that light could shine too. Wasn't kept in a dark place only at night. The shed gets really warm so i guess that why it germ pretty fast.

Some seeds take longer than others but has soon has the white tail come's out get it into your choosen grow medium,Make sure that the tail that you say you can see is pointing down into the grow medium and then put them under indoor lights or in a greenhouse or outside if the temps are good keep moist but not sodden[wet through].Keep a close eye on the seeds because if a couple have cracked the others will normaly follow shortly afterwards. For future seed germanation go with the sealer bag method since useing this method i have near 100% success rate just put the seeds on about 4/5 squares of kitchen roll or toilet roll then mist the roll with a mister till it is just dampbut it has a little moisture to it but so that your seeds will not be sat in realy wet t.roll.Then put another 4/5 sheets on top do these at the same moisture levels has the bottom one's and then place into the sealer bag seal it and put somewhere warm.I normaly put two small tea saucers one on the bottom and one on top to form a clam just for minds sake realy to protect the seeds from anything been put on them by misstake. The seeds will split after 24/48 hours max some may take a few hours more but normaly there done in a couple of days....................tyke..........

Relax and breath, not all seeds germinate in 48 hours, in fact, most don't!
If I made it to a week and they didn't then I would worry. Keep them moist warm and lit up, unless if you are brown paper baggin it. But either way, moist moist moist, warm warm warm!

My last seed run, I did KC33, Lemon Skunk, Sour Cherry Diesl, Kali Mist & Big Bud. None of them had the same timing. KC33 was ready to plant in less than 48 hours, Kali Mist and Big Bud took over a week.

Relax Breath, you are still in the zone!
