So i looked around and could not find a thread on this even though i swear i have been through the complete thread just for fun but the question remains how long do you think on these girls they have been at it for over 42 days now and i have various strains here so if you need specifics please let me know but based on trics how much longer?

(newbie)

They look pretty clear still normally depending on strain takes about 60-90+ days (correct me if I'm wrong) Invest into a microscope or jewellers loupe to check the trichs, when you notice them getting cloudy and less clear then you're getting closer to harvest!

Just my two bits.

Depends, what's the flower time for the strains? You never said what strains they were. Could be a Acapulco Gold, or a auto flower I'm looking at in your pictures. How long? Who knows. Need more info.

The need to know more about the breed is correct.

...but 42 days would be fast.

Good luck,

Bad pics, needs light and focus could be anywhere from 3-5 weeks, hard to tell from those photos, but trichs still look mostly all clear.

I agree with logic, twohearted, and flaming. I can't tell because the pics focus on the hairs, not the trichs. They still look clear....as best as I can tell, you still have at least 3-4 weeks. We will need better pics focusing on the trichs later in development to help you out though.

While everyone that has grown MJ before want it done sooner than later... I get it...
42 days in 12/12... add three more weeks at least...
42 days = 6 weeks
6-10 days for change from veg to bloom... add one week
8 weeks minimum in 12/12 plus the one week for conversion= 9 weeks total
three more weeks... give or take...
Wait... look... learn from your plant...

There is NO way to simply look at a plant and know if it is ripe.

Invest 12.99 in a handheld microscope and check trichomes like a pro.

I agree with you except....
Once you have grown for a number of years, THE SAME Strain... you can look, and see, and tell...
Do you think the old time growers check for Tric's ?
I'd say, there is NO WAY for a Newbie to tell, for sure...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On my strain I grow:
at light change- Pre hairs
one week-buds start
Stretch stop at 3 weeks in 12/12
2-3-4 weeks buds grow bigger and bigger
5 weeks hairs start to change colors and recede, not as shinny, Tric's go from crystal clear to duller
6 weeks plumping buds, clear trics turning to cloudy more cloudy
7 weeks hairs all receded a few white hairs growing mostly cloudy Tric's
8 weeks buds are dense and grow bigger over 90% cloudy
9 weeks first sign's of amber Tric's and I harvest
at the tenth week, I dry for 3.5 days, then start my cure...
I cure for 3.5 days ... then enjoy...
Your results may vary...

Of course if you are growing the same strain over and over and over (especially clones) then you can know just about the exact day it will be finished.

In any other way, you can not eyeball a plant and know if it is at its peak ripeness.

The only true way is to look at the trichs..

Hairs can recede and plant still isn't ready. Hairs can be long and white and pointy and thc degrading like crazy.

Anyone who thinks they can eyeball a plant and know it is ready is fooling themselves.

i can look at a plant and tell if its ripe. you should be able to also. ripe buds look ripe. they are swollen, frosty, with yellowing leaves. if your temps are cool enough the buds can be a little reddish. i check triches to make sure they aren't over ripe. nothing sucks more than too much amber.
the pix i saw were pretty unclear. i would rather see pix of plants not close up pix of buds. i did see too many white pistils for your plants to be done.
so post again in two weeks.
