Everything I have read says to make sure your using 2700k for flower and to make sure the lights are around 1 to 2 inches from leaves on plants that's surrounded area not just the tops. So depending on size. Just make sure that all the leaves are getting light and you should be good. For veg its 5600k lights and the same theory on placement of bulbs.

Just curious...I heard more lights the better...So what do you guys think of this.....

For veggin' (1 plant): 10 bulbs (2 on top, and 2 on each side) - I'm eyeballin' these:http://www.1000bulbs.com/product/53632/FC23-FEIIS23W64.html

Then for flowering - same 10 bulb placement, and these are the babies I'm eyeballin' :http://www.1000bulbs.com/product/36676/FC42-801042.html#BVRRWidgetID

Think this setup could produce a decent yield for 1 plant? I know I could spend more $$$ on the 6500k bulbs but I am trying to keep it on a lower budget...thanks

I dunno...that's why I am asking....Like I said from what I have heard is more the better....I was also wondering if the extra cost of electricity is worth it for one plant ?

23W's seem like a waste of space to me, why not get 42W's instead? Only slightly bigger, and just as readily available?

if your just gonna get 23watt cfls and if you have a local dollar tree you could get 23 watt bulbs 2 for a dollar. If you don't have a local dollar store maybe a walmart, I have seen the 23watt bulbs for $0.75ea. Also you mentioned the extra cost of electricity, you're not gonna see much of a difference in electrical cost. I live in Ca. and I'm running about 1000watts between my veg and flower stations, and I really didn't notice any increase in my electric bill maybe a few bucks but nothing that made me think I need less lights, hell i'm trying to figure out how to get more in my flower station.which brings me to one more thing... If you are just growing one plant at a time then you should consider using all the bulbs you have. It is know that people will mix thier lighting spectrums (they will use both 2700k and 6500k during veg and bloom), usually a 2:1 basis but 50/50 works well too. So if you are buying 10 6500k bulbs and 10 2700k bulbs and only growing one plant use 20 bulbs from beging to end.
if none of this makes sense let me know I'm not stoned right now so i can't think right.
good luck on your grow
oh one more thing if you do use 20 cfls you will have to have a way to control the heat
