Hello guys, I was woundering how many light bulbs do I need? People say 300-400Watt for one plant.. Well my local store only sells like 75Watt bulbs.. So do I just buy like 5...? That's a lot of light bulbs for one plant.. But that will equal out to 400watts.. Or does the clamp fixture edit te Watts? Say I get a lamp fixture and a 75 Watt bulb.. How much watts woul it be..?

Most common seems to be the 23 watt(100 watt equiv).i started with 2 then at like day 10 i went to 4.now month later i got 7 all around the plant.keep them close 2 inch away.go to cfl section and look at ppls setups

no need for reposts so soon, one thread usually gets good answers quite fast on this forum.

forget equivalent wattages, they mean nothing apart from something to figure out what bulb to get if you are used to the old incandescent bulbs. the true number, or smallest wattage on the bulb is the real value you are interested in.

aim for at least 150-200w for a good yeild for one plant. i however would rather invest in a 150w hps setup and vent the grow area to achieve better results as them energy bulbs dont penetrate the plants for shit, so you would be better reading up on a SCROG for your grow as there is just one flat canopy of growth that way.

hope this helps

What kind of bulbs are you looking at?
I have a suspision you are looking at incandesent bulbs, if you are STOP and do some research you are not getting what you need.

He is looking at CFL bulbs, he has another post that mentions equivalent wattages and that refers to CFLs. But one thing I forgot to say is the spectrum of the bulb, they are usually either 6500k or 2700k, it says on most of the bulbs what one it is. One is for flowering (2700k) and the other is for the vegatative stage (6500k). These are not bang on the correct spectrum but they are as good as you will get using these bulbs.

If you are going to use a few bulbs then when in veg stage use a more veg bulbs and have 1 or 2 flowering bulbs as this makes the light more natural. Then in flowering, just reverse it and have more flowering bulbs and 1 or 2 veg bulbs to complete the spectrum... This is not really necessary but some people do it.

Just to clarify, here is a link to the most ideal bulbs you could use. They are larger wattages but they are the 'kind' of bulbs you are to be looking for.

Blue for veg, red for flowering.

I suggest you spend ALOT of time reading about growing, then read some more. Then think about what you want to do. Look for journals that are similar to your needs and then try to replicate the grow they have and take it from there, even start your own journal on this forum as you will get the help you need to start to learn to grow good quality bud.
