How many plants under 400W MH and flowering plan?

Hello guys :) I'm fairly new to this and my first growth didn't go as planned and died because of temperature in 60th day of flowering.
This time I got a tent 120x120x180 (cm), 48x48x70inch. I have 400w MH for vegging, currently have 8 plants and I wonder if thats fine? MH is in cooltube, great ventilation everything works fine but light is not as strong
as in middle somewhere so I wonder if 8 would be ok. For flowering I have 600w HPS so I wonder how tall should I let my veg plants grow to to switch them to HPS 600w? What would you suggest?

Thank you very much for all answers in advance! :)

your doing fine.
every species is different, but most will double or even triple in size AFTER you flip to 12 12. also keep in mind that if you grow um big , there will be a lot of smaller (trash) buds on the bottoms.

Thank you! :D About growing big, what do you think would be a recommended size for Special Queen #1 for veg stage? I was thinking of about 50-60 CM then flip to 12/12 but i guess they would go too high then or maybe something else?

my guide lines, are. flowering under a hps lamp. 250 watt 1 foot tall veg, 400 watt 1.5 foot tall, 600 watt 2 foot tall . 1000 watt. 2.5 to 3 feet tall. and this is using 5 gallon pots and 6 plants per light max yield have the light close as possible, max penetration with the light, yes you can grow taller less plants, but what I like to use , when you have a high plant number,

With light mover,I've done 13 mid size plants - 4ft. tall, Afghan & Orange bud. see pic below my riu info. I run 1000 watt only, 23/1 hrs per day.

Thank you all for such great answers! :D Really appreciate, another question I have, is should I top or fimm at 3rd node? As fimming produces 4 new main stems while topping only 2. So i was thinking to fimm first, then top each of those new stems.

Would that be a good idea?

keep in mind topping and fimming incourages the plant to bush out more make sure you have room you dont want humidity and mold issues at the end of flower due to over crowding.

Yeah, totally. But keep in mind, fimming/topping will increase the size of space that each plant takes up. You should be able to do 8 fine, I am running 7 in a similar sized space (mine is longer and skinnier, yours is more box shaped) and am a few weeks into flower and it is CRAMPED. Your tent technically has a bigger footprint than mine, and mine is a little bit taller but overall you would probably have a little more space than mine. Plus all of my plants are different ages, so some take up like..well I'm too medicated to do the conversion to cm but some are big and some are small :eyesmoke:

None of them are too tall tho, the biggest/tallest one is probably like 90x90x100 and the smallest is probably like 20x20x35-40 (including the smart pots they're in)

I think you could get away with 8 plants but I definitely wouldn't go to big. Another thing, I have a ballast/bulb that go up to 1100 watts but I've only been running at 1000.

Good luck man, I say go for it, especially (god forbid) if something were to happen to one or two of them, then 6 plants could still fill a space like that out. Ive seen people have great success by running a whole bunch of small plants, not topping, just keeping them with 1 main cola and scrogging them and having a great grams per watt yield. You'll get your style down after this first one and find out what size works best.

Good luck bro, don't give up. Growing teaches you a lot of things, but if anything it teaches patience. I have tried and tried in my life to learn to be patient, and nothing else worked until I started learning to grow.
