Hi all just a quick question i have never tried growing indoor ive been reading alot about it everyone seems to be growing 3,4,5 under a 400 and doing a sea of green but your veg will be longer to train the plants right? could i just put like 30 clones in 8" pots and go for 1 nice bud on each or will i yeild more out of a sog?

The longer you veg, the more the yield... 30 clones vegged to 2-3 weeks, in a 8" pot then flip the switch... it could work....How tall is your room...anything could be possible with the correct set up, and right grower... You wont know till ya do it...

you seem to be a little confused as to what sog means scottyb..
sog, sea of green, is exactly what it sounds like you're doing. lots of small plants, with lil to no veg time on them, usually with only one main cola for bud..

i usually grow about 4 or 5'ish plants that i veg till i see preflowers and alternating nodes on before i flip to flower, which can vary from around 6-8 weeks of veg time or so for each plant..

also, i think it's pretty comparable to the amount of yield from say 4 or 5 smaller plants that all give you say 3 oz.'s per, or say 30 smaller sog'ed plants that give an 1/4th oz. per..

some growers simply would rather grow fewer, larger plants, rather than more, smaller plants, in case anything legal were to go down, the grower with fewer, bigger plants would look better in the eyes of the law, even though we all know they're both going to end up with similar amounts of bud in the end.

yep, i'd say you are right. Another benefit to sog is if you ever have the bad luck to get a pest such as root aphids they do not have the time to establish strong colonies in plants with less veg. Allowing you to pull great yields despite their presence. With larger plants you may as well give up. Shut down for a few months sterilize and bomb the shit out of everything and start over, and hopefully they are all gone. Been battling these fuckers for months now. Truly a menace to growers.

SOG you'll get less yields, but more harvests. SCROG you'll veg longer, better yields, but less harvests. Plants finish faster and yield more in a hydro set up.

When done properly yields are outstanding.

yes,...maybe,...yes

No they grow faster, it takes the same amount of time to flower.

Plants yield more in a hydro set up.
not true.

Speed is the biggest benefit to hydro, not yield.

Have you done any of these methods? If a plant grows faster you can switch to flower faster duh. Everyone knows hydro yields more...another big duh. Guess I just had to spell it out. Cute dog tho.

uhh, no I haven't. Everything I say on hear is pure fiction and for entertainment purposes only.
You chose to break down everything I said that was correct while putting words in my mouth and patronizing me. Shocking you have 3000 posts with that attitude. Know it all that knows nothing. Read some previous posts and mine and you might teach your old dog some new tricks. You crossed the line when you tried to break me down quote by quote. Even the sun shines on a dogs ass every once in a while but not for you.

I don't think that one 400 cranks out enough it will work but your plants will yield more with at least a 600 no matter how you chose to put the plants under it . Two 400 closer will get down too

Well thanks a lot guys for the info I'm thinking a 600 and SOG after reading some of your posts then maybe adding to it if the first crop turns out. Will a 600 cover a 6x6 area? And this is going to be my stupidest question so far but how high should the 600w mh be? i read somewhere 24" that sound right?

600 is good a 3.5x3.5 , 4x4 will work fine too. Your hand is the best way to know how close you can put the light worm is good hot is bad

Really a 600 will only cover 4x4 I was hoping to here a little higher number there lol what would someone use to cover a 4x8 table 2 600s or one on a track then?
