how many would u do in 5-gallon pots per 1000 watt light? And any experience with Cotton Candy Kush?

So I just received 29 cotton candy kush clones from a friend of mine. Never grown this strain before been researching how it grows and planning everything out. Now I usually do 9 plants per light in 5-gallon pots, but I'm thinking about doing a little less per light this run.

So they are already transplanted in two 5-gallon pots and are about 6 inches tall right now just starting to pop some side branches. I have a pretty large room it was built for 8 1000 watt lights, it's 17 feet long 10 feet wide and 8 feet high. But I would prefer not to run 8 lights since this is my first grow in months and would like to keep the PG&E bill down.

The recipe I usually use for all my plants is pretty simple, Botanicare liquid Karma, Botanicare pure blend Pro for soil, Advanced Nutrients Bud Candy and House and Garden drip clean. I've had pretty good success with this recipe pound+ per light.

So I guess my questions are, for anyone that has experience growing cotton candy kush how do you like to grow it? Chop the tops super cropping sea of green? And how many would you suggest per llight depending on how the plant grows?

Any opinions or advice on my recipe too is always appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Four 10gal smart pots per 1k - mainlined for 16-32 works for me. Takes a little longer to veg, but saves time and energy when feeding. IME most kush dom strains finish out around 9 weeks, and usually don't stretch much. As far as your food goes, Botanicare is a decent line, but if you are looking to try something new, maybe consider building and cooking your own batch of soil. Supplement with teas. I ditched the bottles a while back, and went fully organic. Quality and taste since then has been something else entirely. Wish you luck with your run.

Yes! Exactly! Plus you get super brownie points for mentioning mainlining!

I have a friend that mainlines his plants, I've thought about trying it but it almost doubles the veg time. And unfortunately I can afford that this run. But I can definitely see the benefit of doing that if you're only running 4 10 gallon pots per light. But does it increase your yield any more than chopping the top or cropping the plants?

And yes I thought about making my own tease, I did a round a couple years back with plain compost tea, my yield decreased a little bit and I think the quality did too but the taste was amazing in comparison to me using the Botanicare line these days.

There are so many benefits to mainlining not just up to 50% more yield. Too much to write about even. You should check out growweedeasy.com and read on it once. I've done every type of pruning method through the years and when I finally tried that ....I almost fell over! The Yields were off the hook! It does not double your veg time either. Try the manifold method if you are worried about time. Takes 2 weeks off of the veg.

I see that your using Bud Candy in your recipe.
What's your opinion of it, and how do you like it? I just started using it this grow and afterwards started reading mixed reviews about it.

I also have 1 plant per 5gallon bucket myself, but I wanted to stick with keeping it simple the first few grows until I can get a plant from seed to flower a few times before trying more advanced methods. I will say looking at my roots, the one plant is taking roughly 1/2 of the 5 gallon bucket and I am going into the 4th week of flowering and veg'd for 4 weeks before the switch to flower. So in my setup I would say 2 plants per 5 Gallon pot would put me at the point of root block. Factors to consider is that I veg'd w/ 24 hours, and by what I understand from research is that without the dark time the roots don't grow as much. So if I was using 18/6 for veg I may only be able to put one per 5 gallon bucket.

Okay awesome I'll have to check that out. For this run I was thinking about super cropping them, I'd like to cut my veg time and start flowering between 2 and 3 weeks.

And as I said before they're all in 5-gallon pots right now and if I transplanted them to 10 gallons 4 per light I'm looking at Olmos 10 lights. Trying to keep my power bill down this run, How many plants do you think is ideal to fit under a thousand watt lights in 5-gallon pots? I've had good success with 9 plants per light and not sure if cutting that number down much would affect my yield?

And what's your opinion of shredding the bottoms of the plants? I've been growing for about 5 years now and I've never tried this. But I've gotten some pretty good yields and good quality all the way down the plants, but on my last grow I think my main issue was I let the temperature in the room get a little too high because one of my AC units broke and the room got about 85-88 degrees. And the bottom half of the plant was pretty fluffy unfortunately.

I love bug candy. As you read on my original post my recipe is very simple, I cut Bud Candy out around week 6 or 7 and continue the rest until a week before shopping which I flush with water and clean. I've never had any issues with Bud Candy, love the stuff.

Me personally I've grown the same system and pretty much the same routine for The Last 5 Years. And that's one plants per 5 gallon pot 9 plants under a thousand watt light. Hasn't failed me yet, other than little issues like an AC going out or something along those lines. What kind of system are you running? And the strain of the plant is a big factor in how they grow, how quick they grow and how much space you need for them of course.

You mean "lollipopping"? You really don't have to when you mainline if you do it right
