How many would you put in?

Hi, first grow and thinking about the next one. The space is 53"x54"x6feet tall. I can get in 16 3 gallon pots if filled to the max. Right now there are just six in there (first grow and got rid of the males, now I have mothers) and it is still almost wall to wall green. Would 12 give me more smaller buds than 9 with bigger buds(i.e. bigger yield) or am I not understanding how these things grow?

These are White Widow, AK47, and NL#5/Haze.

In my experience it all depends on light. If you have three or four HID lights then fill it up leaving enough room to get around and water. If you only have one you may want to stick with just a few.

I have two 400w. I'm thinking I might use all 16 but put them int flowering after 4weeks from clone. Is that a SOG?

No

SOG is *Sea of Green* which means a perpetual grow. (you keep putting plants in at regular intervals).

The big problem you face is ventilation. It is not going to be great if you have massive yields with mildew and bud rot.

Make sure that you can get air through the plants, that is the most important consideration.

for max yields over time SOG is the way. if you only want to grow and get buds you could veg for some time then flower few plants and get bid buds. it's your call, if you chose SOG perpetual, you need good skills, a great cloning rate, perfect timing, healthy mother plants, dehumidifier, and a simple system to be able to clean. it is not simple to clean or change 16 pots every grow especially when you harvest every couple of months, and when you need to clean refill and resume flowering in the same day...

I agree.

16 plants is about your maximum.

I have a tent about the same size. I started 7 fem'd seeds and 13 reg seeds. The plan is to run the best 10 to 12 plants to completion after 40 days of veg. I'm trying to avoid crowding and am incorporating some techniques like Topping and Defoliation in order to keep the growth under control and produce a balanced number of branches per plant.

There's a lot of ways to fry an egg. Just pay close attention to the size of your plants and don't start flowering too late. You have about 20sqft of space, so each plant won't have access to much more than a square foot, so you're going to want to keep them small if that is the case.

It's more about bud sites in a given space than number of plants. More plants does allow a grower to flip to flowering earlier because they spend less time rebounding from topping, LST, or Scrogg. I think 2 gallon planters would work better in this case with that many plants in that small an area. I'd go with coco in SmartPots.

Depends on light and method, The more light, the more plants you can have. In that size room a 600w would be optimal. 2 400's might be a little much for heat.
Scrogg would help you pack more in as the lower foliage would be gone. Smaller pots could get you more girls in the room.. But if it was me, I would just SOG it, get as many as you can fit in there.
