Your node is every new leaf set including the 1 finger leaf after the cotyledons....can't really make that pic out to well, i topped my plants after the fourth leaf set and things are looking great , i have 4 tops ,while the 2 new tops were forming /recovering the 2 branches below shot straight up to the top as well....so my advice ,go after the 4th leaf set

well i'm no expert ,i'm just telling ya that i topped at the 4th and have 4 tops,so if you wanan do that cool ,i don't know what topping at the 5th will do for ya .you know you can still cut it at any node you want,you can cut off half the plant and it'll be topped right there...and yes you can top as many times as you want man, it will always make the branch divide into 2
the nicest thing about topping isnt only the 2 colas that form but the best result of topping is how the bottom of the plant, where the oldest growth is, fills itself out to form a bush rather than just a vertical plant! this method of topping is used to keep your plants short and bushy rather than tall and stringy/stretchy
