How much CO2 is ideal for my light setup?! Can we calc it precisely?

I have a bunch of 180 watt UFO lights (approx 2-3 per plant) in my grow that are around 4-8 inches away from the buds... what is the ideal amount of CO2 for the setup I'm running on?
 
I have a good system to control my temps right now i'm ranging 80-85. I'm thinking about using a butane heater
offset by my water cooler ac to increase humidity and c02 at same time. im in new mexico where its very hot
and dry.
 
Im not an led fan so I'm not a good person to give advise on them. I run 1000w double ended hps and have my temps around 80. I use a co2 burner and keep my ppms 800 in veg and 1200 in flower.
 
I have a propane heater... is that the same thing as a "c02 generator"?

what size of room are you running and how much propane is it costing
you to maintain those levels?

im in a huge garage so that seems difficult to get enough co2 in the entire
thing.
 
In my 10x20' I use around 20 gallons of propane per run. I have a 100 pound tank and it will last a whole cycle. A propane heater will put off co2 but its not the same as a burner that is meant to put co2 off. That heater will put off way to much heat and make it hard to cool your room down. I have my burner on an atlas 1 co2 controller to keep it where I want it.

At my commercial site, the burners are hooked up to the natural gas lines so I just pay the gas bill and don't have to refill tanks
 
you need light power to super charge photosynthesis and convert it all to use other then that you be wasting c02 and it will not do nothing for you
 
Thanks for the tips! Do you think the c02 makes a huge difference? I'm not sure how i can keep the c02 levels
right while I maintain the heat at 80-85... especially as i come into 100+ degree weather this summer. im
growing in a huge garage thats 2 stories tall... and im only trying to flower 8 plants and veg 24.
 
You definitely need an ac if your going to run a co2 burner and hid lighting. Its the only way to keep it cool, especially in the summer.
I think it makes a difference once you have all other aspects of your room dialed in.
 
If you think it is hot now, wait until you fire up even one of the 1k HPS. You might want to look into getting 600s just for some heat savings. With your temps above 80, you need to get as much CO2 as you can in there or the plants will just shut down.

With temps above 80, I would say your cooling system sucks. Make sure that you only run your lights at night. That will be your only saving grace living in such a hot climate.
 
Haha well I can have the temp lower if I want there is a huge AC!

I'm purposely running it at 80-85 which is what is rec'd for LEDs.

I'm not trying to switch to HPS I am getting a lot of lumens right
now with my leds.

I'm wondering how to calculate how much c02 is ideal for the amount
of LED lighting im providing!

I dunno where you are getting your info from, but it is bullshit! Your temp should be down at 77 and NOT higher than 80. Nothing works better for longer when it is hot. Heat is what shortens the life of all of our equipment. In all honesty, UFOs are shit and a waste of money unless you are growing one plant. HPS will give you some big nugs. Those UFOs are like picking your nose wearing mittens.
 
IMO, 80-85 is a little high with out running co2. What is the reasoning behind led's being recommended to run 80-85? I've never heard that before. Imo you should be around 78, never above 80
 
Imo if your going to run co2, get a burner that is meant for co2 and not a heater. I use a titan controls ares 8 co2 burner and a titan controls atlas 1 co2 controller. Killer set up, works great.
 
No gas? Temps should be in the 70-75F range.
Gas = up to 85F, maybe a little more.

The use of LED's require NO temp increase! 70F is the target.....

Gassing in veg is not worth the time or money as it makes almost no difference.
2k watts in that small a foot print? I hope your running Sativa's.....You can run your ppms at the max of 1500.

Some time ago I wrote in a posting the rule for figuring lighting in watts vs rise in Co2 levels.....I don't even remember where to look for that right now.........blah, just spent 30min looking for it......don't feel like typing that much....

Think of it like this.....The more light you use,,,the more gas you should use as it allows the plant to actually use the light effectively....You would be surprised at how a plant changes at the cellular level throughout the day (to actually protect it's self from the light) and back again at night..

I might keep it at the lower end of that......Co2 blocks ethylene production by the plant....ethylene promotes ripening....To much Co2 and your plant simply runs to long without actually finishing completely.
