Its not cheap.....to do it rite indoors....frikin expensive. Craiglist has all kinds of deals on stuff though. I was just on there the other day. Lots of cats selling thier gear around this town. I think its mostly people that smell a buck and jump in all the way and realize.....after the costs you gotta put in work too....lol. Then they get socked with the electric bill. Yep....pricey....lots of work....your social life....gone (unless you can get on a forum all drunk late at night)....constantly thinking about something growing related....it never stops. Its consuming. My girl doesnt wanna hear me talk grow nerd stuff. But i wouldnt have it any other way.

The gpw with you cob growers is just ridiculous. I mean it too. I got to get into this. You cats numbers are just silly.

Im well into over 5000 but thats for 2 rooms. My first room has 2 1k HPS, 8 " carbon with boosters,co2 tank, fans, canna nuts ( i spent well over just 1000 for it a week ago). In the other room for veg we built from ground up. So it was very costly. Room 2 has very similar features but MH and the layout. Just purchased 2 controllers(together about 800) so im going on to 6k. But this has become my job and hobby.
Nice room

Just gotta know what yer doing and be dialed in.
Last run of Blue dream was 1.58 gpw.. It's not just the lighting but the strain grown and dialed in to as close to plant potential as you can,,,,,BUT,,,,, max lighting is part of the dial in.......I must say I like the spectral output of the COB!

Pulled this from another post of mine ~ "I had a harvest just a cpl back with an average of 10.4 zips per plant (4) under a 1K, with my WO Organic soil....lets see, that's 1580 grms per 1 - 1k or 1.58 grms per watt. (Blue dream is easy and yields well).....That also translated to dbl the old rule of 1 zip per gallon of pot size......Once a strain is dialed in.....I find near 2x per gallon of pot size as my rule = most strains! Some like any Blue Cheese or "Cookies" won't due it because of the plants yield potential....."

Yeah i got to build me a cob lamp or two. It jist makes sense. With the right genetics too of course. My white nightmare cut deserves it. Awesome quality and gigantic yielder.

I started out small and it spread like a virus. After each of my first 4 indoor grow cycles I made (relatively) major upgrades, going from CFLs to purple LEDs to pre-made COB LEDs to DIY COBs... Simultaneously I converted one closet, then another, then got a tent -- I spent money continuously for the first 6-8 months. I did not keep track, it quickly went from a hobby to an obsession that overwhelmed any sense of practicality.

Since we can get $100 ounces at a local dispensary, doing rough numbers in my head I can easily see we did not break even based on what I spent vs. what I grew on my indoor during the first year. If I were to add in the outdoor, even with only 3 of the 5 plants actually finishing, we're back in the black on the cost of growing vs cost of buying scale.

Now I'm set for spaces and equipment, so moving forward its just clones, seeds, soil and nutes (and the electric bill!!!). We'll definitely come out way ahead this year. And of course if the outdoor finishes well, then its party time.

100$ zips at a dispensary ? Wtf?
There was a billboard facing the 205 freeway that advertised $90 oz., might still be there, haven't been out that way in a while. The closest dispensary to our house (there are something like 90 in our county) always had about a half dozen options for $100 ounces (the rest were mostly $150-$200+). There are some advantages to being legal.
