How much effort should I put into this, really? First ever grow

I forgot to multiply x 2. Ok so I was stoned. I see how it works now. You plan to extend the canopy towards the the center and also outwards. That makes sense. I still say a plant in the center. Most plants produce their biggest cola's near the center. But you can always do that later after you've run it a couple of times.

The LED's sound perfect for a veg cab. After your first harvest starts to flower, a veg cab will make a huge difference. Not having to synchronize your plants for the 12/12 schedule is a big advantage. Your plants will finish at different times and there will be vacancies. If you have a veg cab you can just take a vegging plant and pop her in the cab. This way you can set up a staggered grow and harvest every few weeks.

I am moving to Air Pots. This is a new idea vaguely similar to Smart Pots but, from what I hear they outperform them considerably.

They look like they were designed by the Head Gardener for the Spanish Inquisition but their rep is brilliant. I just ordered a couple to try.

Strains: How many strains do you intend to grow at that same time. I like to grow two or three. Growing just the one strain in all pots is simpler of course.

Buy top notch genetics. $20 for a seed is nothing compared to all the effort and money you are putting into the plant. Get from one of the top breeders DNA , Serious Seeds, Barney's Farm, Dr Greenthumb to name a few. Attitude carries most of the top breeders and they offer a pick'n mix which I like. A lot of people buy Nirvana seeds, partly because they are cheap. Nirvana's gear can be flaky. Some of their strains are good some not. If you do go for Nirvana research the individual strain first. In general you should think in terms of a strain and a breeder. The same strain from two breeders can be very different. It's like wine.

I suggest an Indica. They are easier to grow and are usually short and bushy which is well suited to scrog.

If you are going to scrog, consider 'scroglets'. A seperate scrog screen for each plant. It's more work to set up but it means you can move the plants around easily. IMO in the end it's worth the effort.

I am fixing to convert to a vertical setup with individual vertical scroglets like the setup in Marlo's grow. I have a long cool tube for my 600W HPS. I might add a 250W MH to the tube. I have just set up a small veg cab. Doesn't need much space at all. Plants aren't usually vegged taller than 1'

Good luck with all your plans. When you get going, it would be great if you started a thread to log your cab development and your grows.
