A zip a month might be too much for some, and insufficient for others. I wouldn't be too concerned with the numbers.
Whether you're a patient or a recreational user, if the amount you smoke encroaches on your day-to-day life, I would suggest you're overdoing it. I smoke as much as my day allows. If I have to work, or if I have a bunch of errands to run, I simply can't get too melted, or I wait until the evening for my first joint of the day. If I don't have anything specific to do that day, it isn't beyond me to burn through a few grams.
I'm not a medical marijuana patient (although I believe it helps me with anxiety), so I endorse 'responsible drug-taking' for recreational users. That applies to all 'drugs,' from alcohol to MDMA. You alone will know if the amount you consistently consume affects your ability to complete your daily tasks, or if it negatively affects your social/personal life.
My two cents.
