how much longer?

no, listen to brick top, knows what he's sayin, quality isn't on size or quantity, its timing and curing. for yourself i'd rec waiting till trics are 50%, chop and trim, hang for about 4 days, cure for 2 weeks if you can resist - good luck;)

aw believe me i was planning on a proper drying process. thanks for all the input. i think i know what i can look forward too now :D

As Gun's n Rose's once sang.............. "Just a little Patience"

Pay attention to what people are saying, they know what they are talking about.
She looks like a Sativa or Sativa dom. so you're looking at around 1 1/2 to 2 more months.

Remember, Good things come to those who wait. WAIT!!!!!

cropped many times to early (DESPERATION DOES NOT ROCK DUDES), tastes shit, all plants find their own steroids in the last 2 weeks let them run

if i want buds with more of a pure THC content i will have to chop "early" will i not? and thus getting smaller buds in the process?

The generally accepted idea of high or stone results in relation to trichome color is .. clear trichomes means the plants are not ready to be harvested. Cloudy or milky colored trichomes will give you an energetic head high. Amber colored trichomes will give you a body stone, more of a couch-lock feeling. Actual brown trichomes will give you material for your compost pile.

That is only so accurate. A strains genetics will play the largest factor in what you will end up with, a high or a stone or some combination of each. You cannot take a pure or nearly pure sativa and harvest when the trichomes are amber and turn it into a couch-lock body stone and you cannot take a pure or nearly pure indica and harvest when the trichomes are partly clear and the rest cloudy/milky and turn it into a clear soaring head high.

The most you can do is to fine tune what the plants genetics will give you and make what you get just a bit more of this or that but within very inflexible genetic limits.

The standard accepted trichome color chart as to when to harvest is not really very accurate when all strains are taken into consideration. A pure or nearly totally pure sativa will reach peak THC levels when the trichomes are still clear, just before they begin to cloud, so for them someone would want to harvest those types of strains by the time they see roughly 5% to 10% cloudy/milky trichomes and 90% to 95% clear.

Another thing the standard accepted color chart fails to mention is while most strains trichomes will begin as a colorless-clear some will be a clear-yellow or a clear-amber from day one. In those cases you cannot harvest by color because color will always exist. In cases like that you need to go by clouding, by when the clear-yellow or clear-amber turns cloudy and then to fine tune your high or stone go by degree of clouding.

Reading plants and trichome colors and knowing the very best time to harvest to suit your likes and dislikes is not as simple as paint by numbers like many people believe and claim it to be. At times you actually need to have some knowledge and experience to end up with the best you can get.

i know.. .my plants now are middle of 6th week. meaning approaching week 7. they still look a little airy but their sativa and im sure theyll fatten up by week 9

Do you know the actual strain? Leaf shape can be deceiving at times but they don't look like they are much more than 60% sativa and 40% indica, or 70% sativa and 30% indica at the very most.

If they are a true sativa or a highly predominant sativa they would almost certainly need more weeks than you are talking about. A mostly sativa strain like Mr. Nice Seeds Neville's Haze has a 112 day flowering period, that's 16 weeks. The Green House Seeds knockoff Neville's Haze has less sativa in it and its a 91 day strains, that's 13 weeks. Many strains that are only slightly sativa dominant will need 10 weeks to 12 weeks or more.

Again, do you know the actual strain ... or are you growing mystery genetics from bagseed or something given to you by a friend who didn't know what the strain was and you are only guessing and calling it a sativa because it has at least a slight bit of a sativa high mixed in the cross?

i know you weren't asking me this but i can only guess my plants are sativa. and thats just down to leaf shape. clones given to me with no other info. your quite the fountain of green knowledge Brick Top.

1 strain i know for sure is White Russian

Serious Seeds - White Russian

Indoor clone grow time: 5-10 days
Indoor flowering period: 53-63 days
Indoor yield: 350-500 g/m²
Outdoor harvest time: middle - end of October

The plants yield very powerful buds, coated with resin. Very strong, long lasting High, more cerebral than a knockout. Medicinal plant.

Strain: White Russian
Breeder: Serious Seeds
Location: indoor, outdoor, greenhouse
Type: mostly indica
Flowering: ~58 days
Normal or female seeds.

These seeds can produce plants that are fantastic in both appearance, and effect. One of the most typically indica strains, White Russian is a stable cross of AK-47 and White Widow (a prize winning indica clone). Medium height, consistent plants and dense, very resinous flower tops (crystals appear after about 5 weeks of flowering). With such a strong indica background, the plants smell quite strong during both their growth and flowering period.

Information about the growth of the plants:

Flowering Time Indoor: Between 60 an 70 days (Average: 65 days.)
Stretch after the initiation of flowering: ~ 240 Percent
Initiation of flowering onto around 23 cm. - Final Height onto around 75 cm.
Growth Behavior: Strong
Side Branches: average to many; slightly above average length as well as ordinary strong and vigorous.

The plants of this Cannabis-Strain...
...can be placed close together.
...need much fertilizer.
...can build pre flowers into the growth period.
...need much care.
...are tolerant to over- or under-fertilization.
...are not vulnerable to fungal diseases.
...are not susceptible to mold.
...are tolerant of temperature fluctuations.
...looks and grow more like a Indica.
Harvest, Yield, Taste, Aroma, strength and effectiveness

Yield / Quantity: The crop of this strain is very high.
Buds / Leaves: The ratio of buds to leaves is very good.
Bud Structure: The dried buds are rather hard and compact.
Strength / Lasting Effect: The weed is strong and long lasting.
Tolerance Built: very slow tolerance education.

i can only guess my plants are sativa. and thats just down to leaf shape.

At times the shape of leaves is all someone has to base an assumption on but leaf shape can be deceiving at times. I have had strains with leaves that were wide paddle leaves and looked very indica but their flowering time and high were definitely that of a sativa and I have had strains that had long skinny leaves that looked like the Cryptkeeper's fingers and looked totally sativa but had an indica flowering time and an indica stone. One of the times I grew Green House Seeds Lemon Skunk I had three different phenotypes. One looked totally sativa, skinny leaves, and shot up like Jack's magic beans, one had medium width leaves and medium to tall in height and one was shortish and had leaves that looked like the blades on a ceiling fan. They all finished within days of each other and the buzz was so similar that if I didn't check to see which jar I picked a bud from (I marked each jar by phenotype) it was almost impossible to guess which phenotype the bud came from.

Visible traits and flowering times and high/stone/buzz traits do not always go hand in hand and they do not always fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. They can fool you.

Keep a close eye on the trichomes and watch for calyx swelling and harvest when your plants tell you they are ready to be harvested, within of course the limits of your personal preferences, likes and dislikes, and you will be a happy camper.
