how much lumes does a 400w hps give off?

Hi I am going to buy 11 400w hps bulbs. do they work with normal south african 240v house power? how much lumes does a 400w hps give off?

It depends on the make & model of the bulb. They differ from one to another. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 45,000 Lumens.

You need a ballast and everything for HPS you realise right? Just checking because you just say you are buying the bulbs. And yes, with a ballast designed to work off of a 230-40v connection it will work fine.

I got all 11 for like a $142 so I had to take it all. but I stay in sa. what do you use to get the heat out?

second hand? did u realise that new bulbs will need replacing after 3 - 6 mths due to loss of lumen output.... do u nt think someone has palmed there used bulbs on u? i hope nt 4 your sake mate,,, was it jus the bulbs or did u gt ballasts as well?

the ballest as well thats why i got it. bulbs are cheap.what wil happen if i use old bulbs? how many lumes can they lose?

thats a bargain then m8, happy daze..... im not sure on the loss, but i believe its enough not to bother with em again. maybe someone will but in wit the right answer for ya m8.......

u cud use two or three to make ya lumens up, but thats 3 times eleccy and 3 times heat,
