i need a little help with that i would like to just have an average heads up so i no how much of my grow space i will b using
HOw much should i expect my plants to grow during flowering

hay in flowering you can expect anywere from 4 to 8 inches depending on the room

what if i keep everything small liek i start them to flower when they are about 12in or a little taller

Err, I usually hear figures of 100-200% of the size they go into flowering. So, if you go in at 12", expect them to get to 24-36" tall.

Unless you have a very bendy 1ft tall plant its kind of too late. Flower now and hope it only gets double its size.you can top or fim if you like that will help also.

once it has at least 5 sets of true fan leaves, then top it by cutting the the whole top grow shoot.

From my last grow... I waited until the plants were 16" before flowering. I wish I did it sooner because my grow box is only 4' and my plant (one was male so only have one plant now) is now 3 1/2 feet. So it more than doubled..
If you top...
I would wait until your plant has 4 true nodes. Or you can let it grow anothe 3 or 4 inches (about 3 more nodes) past the previously mentioned height, and make a clone from it. Then veg for a few more weeks to give the topped plant a chance to develope the new "branches." Once the plant has 8 true nodes or is at ~10" then it is ready to flower. For the cloned top, get 2 6500k CFLs and keep the clone under them (on a 24/0 cycle) for the first 3 weeks, taper to 18/6 until the clone is also flower size, and stick it in to start flowering with your other plant. That way you will have another harvest about 4-5 weeks after main plant.

I've been experimenting with a product called BushMaster that is supposed to stop all upward growth and encourage side growth (and cut up to 2 weeks off your harvest time)
Sprayed 2ml on the leaves 3X's, 3 days apart when I moved them to 12/12. (recommended dose, foliage, 1ml, 3X's over 2 weeks)
The plants have grown minimumly upward while bushing out greatly. I tried the 1ml. dosage, but saw 4" additional upward, so doubled it. Saw hairs (w/2ml) in 6 days.

It's a little spendy, but 2ml's is only 1/2 tsp in a gallon, so will last forever!
