How much water?

I am growing White Rhino in Fox Farm Ocean Forrest . I have 3 gallon pots. How much water is enough for my plant. This is the first time I have used the FF soil. It seems like it holds the hell out of moister. When I think it is time to water about halfway down its wet. I use to do the inch down to see how dry it is and when I watered them , they tried to die. I waited 1 week before I watered again and the plant goes crazy. How much water should I use for my three gallon bucket. I have plenty of drain holes at the bottom. I am using Distilled water. I just started the 12 n 12 light for flowering yesterday. Soil PH is 6.7.

I usually water until the pot can hold no more. Let it go unwatered you notice dry soil 2" down, and/or if the leaves start to droop a little.

Thats correct, and when you do water, water thoroughly til a tiny bit of water trickles out of the drainage holes..

Then, leave it alone til the soil is pretty much dry, and the pot is light.

Overwatering is one of the biggest mistakes in gardening.

Theres a fine line between too much and too little when you have soggy soil. Usually when you grow indoors the parts above soil are usually warmer than the roots below. This inbalance causes the plant to stop sucking up water properly because it interferes with osmosis. So the top will be drying out while the soil still feels wet. The best thing to do is to keep the soil warmer than the temp of the surrounding air. This stimulates root growth which in turn uses more water. Do not overwater because it will cause the roots to drown and die, and try to use 2-3 times more water than the pot can hold to flush out fertilizer salt buildup.

I've done that. I've overfertilized. I finally got to the point where I learned to not do that, and what happened? Nitrogen deficiency. BUT, my mistakes are now too little instead of too much. I've delayed on watering, and my plants get a little droopy and sad looking.

would you consider a ltr a day 5 days out 7 too much for a plant this size? they are in 25-30ltr pots.

Yya know every garden is different.

I usually give my girls that ive grown in soil a gallon a week when into flowering.

Nothing more, and certainly nothing less.

And ive grown in 5-7 gallon buckets since day #1.
