No it should not be always on.

I dont do hydro i dont know, but alot of ppl will know, just wait

I run my pump 24/7 to my cubes via AirStoned res (bubbleponics) never had a issue, just make sure you combat buildup, salt etc.

so is the water just flowing over the cube or at the base of the plant??? Thanx for responding

what you can do is have your water pump hooked up to a dripper and have your water pump to go on 3 times a day. this will give your plant water, and giving the rockwool enough time to dry therefore giving roots oxygen. have the watering times in 30 minute intervults and water every 6 1/2 hrs

I run the tubes through the net pots to the side of the cube about half way up/down.
