I'm fairly new to growing ....I have been taking notes about 3 weeks straight now but I can't seem to figure out how often are you supposed to water your plant during ALL 3 PHYSICAL STAGES OF YOUR PLANTS GROWTH! i mean i dont want to drown my plant by continuous watering. And i also dont want to dry my soil or dehydrate my plant. I plan on growing auto flowering seeds and I also plan on growing indoors. People say if you poke a tiny whole about a inch down you will know. BUT I AM A VERY SPECIFIC AND DETAIL oriented person so I need to know how many times a day (or every other day)and during what stage of growth. #Help please?

Use enough that it saturates your entire medium, which should drain excess freely. Every 3-5 days.

Water it good. Count the days till it is drooping from lack of water. Say it was 10 days, now water every 9 or 8. Over watering can cause a bunch of problems.

I still like to lift the pot. Once you know what it feels like dry, it gives you a good feel on how much water is still being held. I tend to do that more than sticking the finger in the soil.

I like air pots...you really can't overwater when you do water. (Edit - assuming you use good draining soil)

Good luck with your research...there's a lot to learn which makes this so fascinating.

Before you water, pick up the (full) pot & get a feel for what it weighs dry.
Now water the soil until you have a good amount of run off, when it's done draining pick up said pot again.
Do this several times & it becomes easier - after a couple of grows you will just "know" when it's time.

Edit: Damn twaite, you corked me cause I can't stand spelling errors.

Thanks man I will try with a test subject in the mean time until I wanna grow my rather expensive seeds
Oh dude I totally understand. I remember when these plants were super delicate too. If you stick with it a while you might find you like pruning by hand lol. Good luck, looking forward to seeing your progress.
