Sort of. Nationalization IS a coercive monopoly. Privatization could be at some point, however it is not a given that will be the result and some would argue it's not even likely.

Private interests are completely unaccountable. Even your precious invisible hand of Adam Smith will jerk the private interests off when the private interests fix prices. Privatization is Power to the Job Creators.

I'm talking about Power to the People.

Not really, private interests as in a small business are accountable to their customers or they can't exist. The feedback from their customers gives them the signal whether they are doing a good job or whether they are lacking. Governments or private business aided by government lack the proper customer feedback mechanisms....they don't have to give a fuck, their market is literally a captive.

You really should consider reading that book Market for Liberty. Even if you don't agree with some or all of it, a person of your intellectual capacity might glean something from it. Peace

If nationalization of the health care industry is a good idea because it will lower costs, and guarantee medical care for everybody, then why is it not a good idea for everything else? That is the claim you guys are making: government will do it cheaper and better.

What is so magical about the government in healthcare that isn't magical for everything else? Is it just a gut reaction on your part that a nationalized economy is abhorrent? Are the real-world examples, like Cuba and the USSR, putting you off to the whole idea?

Whats wrong with Cuba? Is it the fact that it isn't being choked by the smog of industry or the fact that they live longer than we do on average.

I'm kind of in this tricky position where I don't agree with Conservative Politics. but i'm also very weary of state control of industry. There is a balance.


It isn't one or the other. It isn't chocolate or vanilla. It's a twist. Industry provides goods and the government should protect the consumer and step in where needed.

I did read it. Honestly, it is crap. The feedback from customers you are talking about is basically what I meant when I mentioned the invisible hand of Adam Smith. You didn't even understand it. The market becomes an apparatus of coercion when private interests can fix prices. This is how you are incorrect in your specious argument which is basically that demand always commands supply. Supply can (and therefore inevitably will) become monopolized by a shrinking class of owners. Demand will simply take what is supplied and advertizing will make them feel like they chose it.

Who is demand? Everyone. Who is supply? Not everyone. Privatization allows monopolized supply and therefore unhindered privatization will inevitably lead to an ever-shrinking number of people owning an ever growing percentage of market share (control of supply) until we have a king who inherits absolute power.

So then let me make it easy for you. Who are you more scared of? Who has more power to dictate over your life? Rich people or the government? The rich guy a couple blocks over can't hurt you, but the politician you elected into office sure the hell can.
