some people vacuum seal them and put them in the freezer, i just keep em in the back of my closet in a mason jar covered by a black sock.

There are some great ideas about this on the seed collectors thread, mabey some Ideas will help you . I just keep them in moisture proof petri dishes. I have alot of these, I took them home from a brewery I worked at and washed them with bleach, they work great some people say freeze them at below 0 deg. I haven't had luck with this, when I took them out of the freezer they went ot hell in germ. mold. So I don't endorse that but everbodys situation is diffrent and I probably caused it. I do know this, I'm still germing my way through bag seed, I'm germing 15 year old seeds with great success, they don't seem to be having any weird side effects from their age, last summer I grew out a population of new clone mothers from 22 year old melungeon magic seed. Mothers grew fine clones, and I had no issues with production of bud from these seeds. My feeling on this, is that MJ seeds have a hella long shelf life if kept in a cool, dry, dark place. Other than that I don't see to much issue with just putting them away ......Spaghetti.

ouch, gotta hate that fuckin mold. stick a paper towel on the lid a few hours before storing, that way any moisture should be picked up. i dont freeze em either, though vacuum sealing em may have avoided that tragedy. though id just much rather keep em somewhere safe with a solid climate and no light. all hail the flying spaghetti monster of rep hahaha

ill tell you the story of a seed i bought, i bought a La Diva seed online, the order took little over a week to get to me. These seed come in a little plastic zip lock and then the bag with seed was put in a all black DVD case. I never got around to planting this seed so it stayed in the DVD case in my bedroom underneath a TV stand for over 2 years. I took no specail care about the how hot or cold it was in my room and when i finially desided to play around with this seed the girl germinated with taproot within 72 hours. So i guess take this experience for what its worth, i dont know how a pro would store their seeds but leaving it in the original packaging the seed company sent me seemed to store the seed just find without damaging to it at all.

hmm, are they air tight? mason jars are like 1 dollar for a good sized one, or even less.

moisture free and kept in fridge.
you need to mimic mother nature and keep the seeds cold, like in winter.

So what is the difference in shelf life if you keep them cold like mother nature or if you just keep them in a cool, dry, and unlit place?

Do not know but it must be some time difference. I vote for fridge and sealed air tight.

Seeds can remain viable for a period of 5 years if these conditions are met. Keep in dark. Keep in moderate temperature range. Do not let moisture get on them. Do not handle with unsterile hands or utensils.

Put them in a jar with a dessicant. You can get them from some pill or vitamin bottles and I know beef jerky bags come with one.
