How to deal with short roots when starting dwc?

Hey everyone,

I'm starting a new dwc system And I'm wondering how to tackle the problem of short roots when your first starting out.

After I make clones, the roots of the clones are far too short to put into the dwc system. Clearly I need the plants to grow for a short period of time to make the roots long enough but I'm not sure what a convient medium would be to grow in to minimize stress when transplanting into the dwc system

Thanks for the advice all!

Yeah fill the net pot real shallow with your plant in the bottom, as the roots grow and the plant gets taller keep adding hydroton till the cup is filled.

Yeah, you want to raise the water level - how you do that depends on how your system is built.

If your building a pvc tube garden, DON'T slope the tube - get it level and use an elbow on one side, that way you can use a rubber ring cap with a hole to adjust the water level.
