How to excel in a society I don't believe in

I don't respect American Society at-large. I think it's a Corporatist, conformist, cult of douchebags. Everything is fake. The thought of putting on a suit and going to a campus interview with a fake smile and sales pitch makes me want to puke in my soup. I'd defend these claims but that's more a political section thread.

Accepting these things as true, how do I get by? I'm struggling finding the motivation to do well in one of the more traditional majors in college because I genuinely don't believe in the work most of the companies I could interview for will be doing. What's more, I know I will hate the day-to-day. I don't want to be one of these guys who just settles and hates his entire working life, while going home knowing that he compromised his values all day long.

But I don't have an exit strategy. I can't find an escape. An outlet. A financial societal bypass.

I know this is a bit rambling. I apologize; I've been up all night, again, wracking my brain, trying to figure out how I can make some sense of all this. I'm so fucking lost. I feel like I'm already in debt and I better hurry up and conform and becoming an accounting major, but I know I'd hate my job doing so.

Thanks for reading.

Shit man, let me start of by saying you are where you are because you decide to be there, doing what you are doing....
Corporate life is sucky but the money does make the shit parts tend to fade away... as well as most of the rest of you.

If you want something else, you need to DO something else.

I love capitalism and believe in it 110%, however I do not believe in capitalism with the amount of government regulation it currently has.

America has created some of the most successful people in the world due to their own hard work and sweat, and anyone truly can make it big here... just about having the idea and ambition to do so.

You are doomed by your misconceptions and lack of creativity. Seek professional help.
I mean that in the nicest way.

also herbose is a petty slave , and only knows tyranny, i would be like that to if i was a little bitch... agagagaga

I apologize for what I said, I was in a weird mood this morning, robert needs some advice rather than smart ass comments.

robert, you remind me of myself at that age. After many years of agonizing I realized I was suffering from depression. I couldn't face getting out of bed in the morning, the whole world seemed doomed and fucked up. I did eventually seek professional help and it change my entire approach to life. Now I can still see the fucked up aspect of the world but I also see an equal amount of good.
Again, I apologize.

Disagree. Protestant hard work is a misnomer; America was created the same way all other modern societies were: the strong taking advantage of the weak, and pulverizing them into submission, generation upon generation.

Rags to riches stories are rare, and they usually have little to do with intellectual ability or hard work when you delve into the reality.

But if that's boring, singing God Bless America can be much more palatable.

That's an easy feel-good-about-myself one-liner, but alas it's lame. I can call you an unlearned dummy who might have picked up a few coins sucking the nearest accessible cock, but that would be equally lame and baiting and mean-spirited for its own sake. I don't know anything about you, and vise-versa.

If you're going to say such things and attack people intellectually and personally, dude, be a man and defend it. Anything less is cheap and just the act of being mean to people for it's own sake.

I hear you. I'm willing to do something I don't want to do for 40-50 hours a week in a situation where I'm genuinely helping and bettering people. But not as some square. I mean, that's life? 15, 20 hours a week of happiness? Really?

I'm decidedly non-materialistic, so there's that aiding me at least.
So you explained what you don't like. Ever tried asking yourself what you do like?
I hear you; whining is easy, solutions make men. I do like growing marijuana, but I don't like the incredible, mind-boggling cognitive dissonance it requires. I mean, it would be an embracement of the fact that my entire family would think I'm a fucking loser drug dealer, scum of the earth. I can handle that in theory, but the reality, the day-to-day, is tough to swallow. It would be such a big risk.

Maybe I need to man up, rent a house and get a few thousand watts on and take a chance. (?)

Thanks dude. I'll check that book out for suree.

Life is what you make it bro. You can spend your whole life bitching and being unhappy or you can try to figure out what you shoud be doing. There are many negative things you could focus on but there are many positive things you should focus on. I've felt this way as well. I think we all do to some degree and at some point in our lives. Things are not likely to change much any time soon. So, you can try to make the best of your life and situation or you can be negative and your life will probably suck. It's really up to you. There are a lot of places in the world that are way worse than the good ole U.S. Try to be postive. It will make all the difference in the world. :weed:

You didn't understand what I was saying...

Sure, you can be the BEST brick layer in the crew, and work hard your whole life being a brick layer and never moving on.

What I mean is hard work when it comes to advancing yourself, I hear people all the time saying I've worked hard my whole life and sure they have, but at one job that offered no real chance of advancement.

Instead, they should've worked hard throughout their life attempting to better themselves and their financial portfolio (if what you want is money).

And face it, some people won't advance, it is what makes the world successful... some people are SMARTER and TAKE MORE INITIATIVE in their work than others, you know the saying, "Work smarter, not harder".

The working class, and upper executive class are split for a reason, and it is always plausible to jump from one, to the other... all it takes is for you to realize what you want, formulate a plan to achieve what you want, and go for it.

Lastly... I've worked around some of the most successful people in my region, and most of them came from nothing, and ended up with everything they could want, because of their determination to better themselves, and not "work hard" at one thing in life... and instead, work hard towards many things.

Also, last year there were 1.3 million households in America that had a net worth over $5 million dollars, as you know... maybe only 4-5% of those are "family money" households, the rest were earned through smarts and hard work coming up from normal households like you and I came up from.

So again I say, capitalism fosters wealth for the average man, it's up for grabs to anyone... it's up to YOU to decide how you're going to get there and try and go for it, expect failure, reward success.

I was like you for a minute. Was about to go into college graduate and get a job. But then I started thinking for myself. I dropped out of college. Only high school degree here. I currently grow and sell weed in Cali and it is a great lifestyle. As far as your thoughts on Society watch this movie: Click Me

Like I always say: Life is a game it's just how you play it!
