I had a friend who was an attorney, and he sometimes would come straight from his office if schedule made him, to our bowling, dart and pool nights at the bar.
Every time, he would take off his tie, unbutton his shirt to a casual level, roll up his sleeves, and come in like that, not wanting to feel out of place.
He has his own firm, nice house, plenty of money, several investments, wife and 2 kids, goes on vacations 3 times a year, but still washes out ziploc bags and dries them on the drainboard next to dishes, attributing this habit to his college days, when he had 'more time than money' even though he now has 'more money than time'.
It's a matter of what you are comfortable with as long as it is presentable, not what others think of you.
