ok, i have a a little heat and humidity issue. ZDue to grow room location it has poor, acually no ventalation, except when i open room (that leads outside). I need to lower the heat and humidity but can`t put an air conditioner in, but i only have 1 little id`d say maybe 8, to 12 inch van. Can anyone help me out as to how i could lower my humidity and heat a little in room? could i just add another fan or 2 to circulate air better? i mean all in all it`s a pretty big room too. i am kinda new to indoor growing, could anyone help a brotha out on this one. F.Y.I. i don`t have acual temp, or humidity temps because of broken gauge.sry

Hey,

You may not have a heat problem, get a new gauge. If there is no ventilation to speak of, you do have a problem. Is this a rental property? I'd be looking for ways to create at least one hole you can use for venting.

if you have no ventilation you will not have a very successful grow. you need to find a way to vent, otherwise there is very little you can do about your heat and humidity.

you say your new to growing....are you serious about it?

You need ventillation for a succesful grow. At temps outside 65-85 degrees your plants pretty much stop growing. If its not too hot where you live you can put in a intake fan and a passive exhaust and it will help your temps and humidity. If you live where its hotter you need a intake and a exhaust fan to do the trick. In the summer I have to have AC as well to keep my temps down.

damn guys, i was just trying to ask a simple question, why is everyone so harsh here. i do have ventalation, but it sucks, the vents are small and up top of the room, and the room is so big, and the way the vents are positioned, they are almost useless.

and BTW i have only 1 1000 watt HPS in room, and the room is basically something like a big wellmade shed, but not a shed.

Get a cooltube/glass shield and exhaust the hot air from your lights outside your room with ducting. Open your room that leads to outside and run the ducting outside.

if you have small passive(nothing forcing air through them) vents then i suggest rigging up some intake/exhaust fans on them. did you say pics werent an option? if not describe these vents to us so we get a better idea.

If you can't get any of the above things's,there are those little silica gel based de humidifier vented box thingy's,
pretty small pretty cheap and they do an ok job, they last about a month and may just do the job for them,i'm in euro land,
so i converted the price and they work out at about $5 a piece, not much and they might give a some peace of mind, humidity is
a bitch,i used them when i was too broke to buy a dehumidifier, some people on this forum seem to endless pockets, not every one
can buy their way out of trouble so easy

I myself have the exact same problem. I grow in my closet in my rented apartment. I cant drill any holes in this closet. And I cant affort to buy a nenw door and exhaust fans, before this grow is pretty much done.

What I do is. I keep my lights on frmo 5 in the night to 5 in the morning, so that the lights only are turned on when its dark, and pretty cold outside. I just open the door when the lights turn on. So the max temp are @ 90-100.

Now the humidity im not quite sure. But it feels kinda bad when I open the door after the dark period. Kinda like a greenhouse on a hot summer day. So I read that CO2 would be a good idea if you have bad air circulation. I added 3 soda bottles for my 5 plants. And made a mix of yeast, water and sugar. This got added yesterday, so dont know if its helped yet.

Anywho. I have some heat issues with my leafs I beleave. New to growing here myself. So not really sure if its the heat or the nutez. But the buds start to build up pretty fast. So all is still good here. And if its not. Sucks but thats what first grows are all about.. Learning :hump:

im not a fan of the chem dehumidifiers. ive used the Damp-Rid brand before and although they obviously were sucking water out of the air they never moved my hygrometer once.

and yeah...bottomless pockets would be great huh?

[i don`t have pics of room, but i could take some later tonight .but today i cut 2, 12 to 16 inch square peices from where the vent use to be, side by side like between top of door almost at celing. and rigged it up to swing in and out to open and close, like double doors. I plan on just buying a box fan to push the air out, and useing another ocselateing fan(however you spell it) blowing on my crops. think this would be good enough as far as circulation? sorry for all the indoor noob questions, this is my first indoor grow, but am a seasoned outdoor grower, just recently went indoor. so any suggestions would be awsome

Yeah bottomless pockets would be a great help,i had a brainwave yesterday while i was watching a nature documentary
about plant's,it was basically about plants in humid area's and how forest's grow denser near the coast's due to a near constant breeze that kept the humidity down,
so i got a extra nine inch clip on fan on the cheap, and added it to my room yesterday, and low and behold my hum was down by 5% off it's max reading(I've been having hum issues
at night),i would of said this was a fluke ,except that it was horribly humid last night where i live, yet it still dropped,so i asked a friend who lived in florida for year's and he
said the same he reckons that thing's don't get as humid when it's windy,i'll see how it goes tonight to see if it is really having an effect or if it was a one off fluke, but so far so good!!

yea i will post on that, and thanks for all the advice dude. I won`t be able to get a fan or 2 for another few days, but i got the little "doors" i have open for now, but with nothing blowing the air out, and just one kinda small fan blowing on crops. it is still kinda humid, but i guess it is alot better then no ventalation at all.
