We grew some 15 footers, some shorter wider ones, most over 1 lb plants. The key is enough water and big enough holes - 3 feet deep - 4 feet wide(or wider, we were limited in area)
Feed until the plants look like they get enough(Start low, slowly increase)... Try to keep your plants happy if your roots can grow your plant will grow, The wider the hole the bigger the plant our roots never go down more than 2.5 feet so we dig 3 feet and we've had root balls 6 feet in diameter. Get the best plants(for YOUR area)*go to a club and ask around* as for watering - we had to water every other day or every day due to the heat we were getting and big plants will outgrow a small greenhouse

thanks for the input!
so il dig 3 feet then, is there a difference if i make a raised bed? dig 1.5ft then raised+1.5ft cuz our backyard's soil is very shallow not more than 1.5ft, diggin through the thick layers of rock will be tiring. plus noisy cuz only jackhammers will push through it lol. screw me right?
im planning to put some supplemental lighting too
btw im doing strains from mandala.. again.. pure organic, hopefully i can buy sacks of bat guano[still dont know if its more on the N side or P-K side, they dont know! so ima have it lab tested lol other stuff like bonemeal/high PK cant find any yet

btw whats the perfect height for a greenhouse? i can only work with 10x8sq feet of land

I wanted huge effers this year too... so I grew in larger containers and instantly found some disadvantages for how I grow. I * like* to be able to budworm hunt and having anything taller then my line of site was a free for all if I did not use a step stool to check for signs (I dont use pesticides so... if you do this is not a concern) I am more interested in SCOG or SOG's then big. (personal grower only tho)

2 years ago our biggest plant was just as you described, 4 posts, black fabric, 2 ft hole, 2 feet out of ground with fabric filled with dirt(the drainage fabric)

I do not know much about the size for a greenhouse but I grew them without one, it wasn't practical for the area I am growing in, Also - We have a bat house on our property, knowing the bats here eat primarilly insects I can make the educated guess that it will be a high N - lower P K, judging from all of the info online about insectivorous bats having nitrogen rich guano. Half of my property is full of used concrete as it used to be a canyon and now it is "dirt" with huge chunks of concrete, that area is my "ungrowable" area without pots

i see. as for my situation i really need a greenhouse to conceal em suckers from the outside but still be able to have the benefits of an outdoor grow's low costs
im yet to find an organic source of PK lol
ima put planks around a 4x4 area and see how it goes
10x8ft so thats like 4 max plants from clones
ima plant small veggies also and maybe a ladybug colony on the side if there's extra space

btw for the ones who built a greenhouse.. whats the cheapest and best material to use for covering all sides incl the roof? i was thinkin of polycarbonate sheets but theyre kinda expensive about $40 for one 8x4'
and i think ima use metal for the frame instead of wood w/c doesnt last long

If you end up doing in the ground, plan ahead in case of gophers and line your hole with small gauge chicken mesh.

For K aren't you supposed to use Wood Ash?
Also for P isn't it something like a bone meal?

We did have 25 plants under a greenhouse 3 years ago(the reason we do not use them) and all 25 plants turned out fluffy as all hell, the plants grown around them without the greenhouse did MUCH better. BUT that is my area. To make the greenhouse we used 1" PVC and a clear PVC liner type thing(idk what it's called)

If you end up doing in the ground, plan ahead in case of gophers and line your hole with small gauge chicken mesh.
WE do not use gopher wire and only our smallest plants(1 each year) have been taken(when they were ready to harvest)

It requires lots of knowledge and experience to get plants to that size. Something you wont pick up by asking ppl in threads.. Gotta study, study, study with a little trial and error. You can give 2 ppl the exact same things to grow (soil, nutes, genetics etc..) but they will not turn out the same in the end. You need to learn techniques, you need to learn what the soil amendments can do for your soil/plants. You need to learn a lot, more then a couple grows worth of knowledge. A good start would be looking up Uncleben's threads, he is a master grower and if you take his advice in time you will get the plants you desire.

I'll give you a bit of free advise:

1. Unlearn everything someone told you in a cannabis forum,

2. MG soil is excellent, see #1,

3. What's with the pH meter and RO? See #1,

4. If you can grow a tomato well, then you can grow cannabis. Give it the same treatment and that includes avoiding "cannabis specific" products. I have come to the conclusion that they do more harm than good. A lot of that blame rests squarely on the shoulders of noobs,

5. If you're determined to forgo a good book on indoor plant culture and a good general gardening forum, thinking your best info can be found here, then buy Mel Frank's 'MJ Insiders Growers Guide'. It will be your shortcut to success,

6. The light biz is another racket. Some of my best indoor gardens have been via using HPS exclusively from start to finish. There is plenty of the blue spectrum in HPS lighting to provide excellent growth. Come to think of it, my avatar plant was grown with pure HPS and the main cola was at least 5" across and rock hard solid.

Good luck,
Uncle Ben

Go to "find latest posts" and start there its on the left handed side.

Also check this sticky (which is in the outdoor growing forum)

https://www.rollitup.org/outdoor-growing/462407-outdoor-growing-faq-read-before.html

Has a few guides at the bottom and some good info.

Edit: One of UB's posts from a couple days ago.

How much previous gardening experience do you have and with what plants?

I'm currently growing "big ol monsters" outdoors, pure sativa (TFD's Original Haze) but I've kept them manageable via Bonzi drenches. I don't want monsters. I want manageable plants. They are in the stretch phase and getting really out of hand though. Had a rain last night and found some colas on the ground.

Easiest and best results is to put up in 5 gallon pots, sink the pots 3" in the ground. Give them a high N Osmocote. I'm using 18-5-9 with micros, 12 month. You will have monsters.

people are making this too hard...
get some indoor veg..
top them multiple times
plug them into 200-300 gallon smart pots...(around may)
use a drip system
a soil mix like

25 bags black gold potting soil (1.5cf ea)

4 bags stutzman farms chicken manure (1 cf ea)

1 bag perlite (4 cf ea)

1 bag (50 lbs) bonemeal (steamed, not precipitated)

1/2 bag gypsum (aprox 1/2 cf) - Edit -> 1/2 of a 40 lb bag (20lbs).

Mix well, water thoroughly, let rest for 2-3 weeks minimum, transplant, and stand back

As I stated above. Like seemorebuds says "Different strokes for different folks"

You can give 2 ppl the exact same things to grow (soil, nutes, genetics etc..) but they will not turn out the same in the end.

Being curious is human nature, also is being excited about things your into like this is. What you have now is a goal and a good start at info on achieving it. :weed:
