How to run an aeroflo

Ok i have an aeroflo 20. Used it to start seeds in rockwool and hydroton. I want to know when do I move the water lower than the bottom of the net pots? I have kept it up there and it seems to be growing roots very fast. I kno that im supposed to put it down, but i used some schwag to experiment with my other chamber. I lowered the water level so that only the tip of the tap root was in the water. In a couple days, the root started to dry out and became thinner than a thread. I have my kush looking very nice and have the water an inch below the pots. The rootis not even a centimeter thick, so im guessing i should wait. But does anyone have a rule of thumb about how much of the roots should be in water. For example: atleast 2/3 of the roots should be directly in water at all times. Thank you all

You don't mention how many days into the grow you are. Also, how tall are they? This info is necessary to tell you what to do.
If you are at least 30 days into grow, you should be about halfway up/down on the tubes. If you are over that, there should be at least 1 to 2 inches of water in the grow chambers, not less.

only 11 days currently. got 4 nodes and about 4 inches tall or so. The roots are longer than the chamber but still more roots coming outa the pot. i read that the root only goes down until it touches water though. So how do i kno wat level to keep it at?

I'd wait until you have more than just a couple roots hanging from each pot.

The misting action should be enough to keep the roots plenty moist. It seems that there may be another problem.

Are you running the mister on a timer?
Or leaving it off at night?

A couple other questions for a fellow aeroflo'er if you don't mind:
Are you using a reservoir chiller?
Any additional oxygenation in the res?
What nutes will you use?
Can you explain how you started the seeds in there? Where in the cup did you position the rockwool?

usin GH 3 part nutes. I dont use a chiller but everyday i put a frozen 2 litre in the res to cool it down. I run the spraylines 24 hours with my light metal halide 400 watt. Im not sure its a mist jus water spraying in water to oxygenate

You should have a noticable mist in the reservoir tubes. You may need to rotate the spray lines to aim them up. I like to keep them hitting at the exact point where the water surface meets the edge of the tube. This seems to both create a lot of bubbles in the water and also a lot of mist in the air gap.

move them now is what the king says I think and I agree. Currently running my aero 60 with 30 sites. I am misting 24-7 in aero, as most do. You only need to raise the water level if you have inadequate roots in your clones/ seed starter cubes. You will not have a problem lowering now. Your pebbles will stay moist, but not soaked and your hanging roots will receive h2o as well as plenty of oxygen...just don't turn your pump off ever.

haha I agree also king about the diagonal sprayer aim. They tell you in the instructions to spray into the water....not good.
