How to SCROG

What is the easiest way to set up a SCROG? And if anyone could let me know where to get the materials and the easiest way to set it up all together it would be very much appreciated. I have a 4'x4'x6.5' mylar tent with a 600w mh/hps. After my current grow I'll be starting my master kush girls and would like to give the scrog a try to improve yield. Thanks!

The simplest scrog is just a wooden frame with chicken wire stretched over it. In a tent you would need some kind of support to hold the screen at the correct height. From there you can make any improvement or embelishments you want. There are lots of threads devoted to scrogging.

Are you growing just for personal use? If so a 600W MH should be supplying more dope than you can use even without scrog? Not telling you what to do but bear in mind that scrog is a lot more work even when it's all set up. Not only do you have to stay on top of canopy management but your plants are all locked into place. If you need to work on the plants under the screen its very difficult and you cant take a sick plant out. I have used mini scrogs, a separate screen for each plant, but that's a lot more setup and it's still a lot of work to run. After a couple of grows like that I decided I wanted my life back and I stick to simple LST.

Thanks for the advice man, I'm pretty new to the growing but after what you said I think I'll just keep going the way I have been. So its easier to tend to my plants..quick question tho, I'm in my 2nd week of flowering on my 1st grow(noob haha) and I'm growing in the tent I already mentioned and under the 600watter. In this grow I did 5 feminized AK48s in 5 gallon smart pots. The question I have is, like u said about how i can produce plenty of herb...Should I for my 2nd grow add more plants? I have 5 fem Master Kush seeds I was going to start vegging soon and they would then take the place of the AK's I have in the tent now. But should I try more plants this time? I was told before I started that less is sometimes more, because then they arent as cramped n all.

You didnt say what you consider to be a lot of herb What did you get from your last grow?

You ought to be able to get 250gms from your 600W hps without doing anything special like pruning or scrogging.

Yeah dont run at full capacity. You have no flexibility, no room to manouver and everything is a PITA. I would try 6 or 7 5ga pots and see from there

Some things to do to increase yield without scrog or magic juju juices.

You can improve your yield a lot just by getting the basic cultivation right. Giving her everything she needs when she needs it (to quote prof Marijuana) and not stressing her. It helps if you grow the same strain over.

Start from clones.



Pick high yielding strains.

Canopy & light management. Use pruning/topping and LST to get a nice even canopy.

Adding a seperate veg cab will dramatically increase your output. You dont need much space and a 250w light or cfls works fine. Your tent will be permanently on 12/12 and every time you harvest a plant you pop a fresh one in from the veg cab. This way you can run a full harvest about every 2 months instead of about 3. A 50% jump in productivity.

Add more light. Cfls placed to shine on the sides of the plant and lower regions which dont get much light.
