How to set up a exhaust system for the grow room?

Hey guys me again, asked how to get rid of odor last time and most people said to use a carbon filter.
I dont really understand, so carbon filter should be add onto an exhaust system?
exhaust system is basically getting air in the room and getting air out of the room?
I was going to go for something else cuz i cant cut wholes on the walls...
and then I found this hole on the wall of my room!

So does anyone know what this hole is for? I already checked that its not the same as vacum holes, so is it built there actually for an exhaust system to use?
If not, any chance I can use this hole to build up an exhaust system and add the carbon filter?

so in short my quetsion is
1.What is this hole's real purpose
2.Can i use it for an exhaust system
3.Is there any wall to use an carbon filter without exaust system or without cutting holes on walls?

Any input will be strongly appreaciated!!

Your other thread says you've got 500 to play with...
Based on uk prices, dunno if it differs where you are, you should be able to get a small tent, extraction fan ducting and filter, light, ballast....all you need for that budget.
Erect tent.
Gaffa tape carbon filter to suck end of fan. Hang in tent
Attach ducting to other end of fan, exit tent through hole at top.
Cut ducting off outside tent.
Open intake at bottom of tent
Hang light
Attach ballast.
Put seed in compost/soil blend
Power up, and wait.
The tent should 'breath in' that's what's meant by negative pressure. Smells can only pass through the filtered exhaust.
Smell will escape when you open the tent to work though.
If you think a tent isn't stealthy enough for your situation modify a wardrobe, closet etc to 'be the tent'
If you still think it's not gonna be stealthy enough, I din't think you have an ideal growing scenario. No point in spending cash on a grow just to freak out and tear it down once the teeny seedling becomes a real live smelly tree of drugs.

Dunno what your hole is but pumping exhaust into it might make the whole building stink, or solve your issue entirely.

However you design this, just remember the sequence is :
Carbon filter ( inside tent ), ducting to inline fan, inline fan, ducting to exhaust area ( attic/outdoors etc etc).

If using a cool tube in your tent, then its carbon filter, ducting to cool tube, cool tube, ducting to inline fan, inline fan, ducting to exhaust area.

Don't put the inline fan inside your tent.

No matter the setup order, you want the intake in the bottom 10% of your grow area and the exhaust should be placed in the top 10% of get grow. If your exhaust hole is lower then just make sure its drawing air from the top of the room and feed thru ducting down to the hole.

Looks like an access hatch to get to something... looks like lathe from a plaster wall in next room over. Could be seams in a duct tho.

Either way it's not what you need unless it feeds an outside wall vent.

First thank you for the detailed answer!!
Yea I ve thought about a grow tent, but here in Canada, a basic tent is like 200 dollars, the carbon filter and fans cost about 200 dollars.. but some how the combo on the website quotes 900+dollars for a "kit"
I dont understand why it's that expensive, beacuse even if lighting system is included which is CFL lights... how can they cost 500 dollars...

Yea and the whole main point is that I do not want my neibours to be able to smell it, for myself? I fucking love it! I dont care if the room smells as long as it doesnt get to outside thats good enough for me.
So if I do the "vent" set up then the smell will be in the tent and getting cleaned through the carbon filter and blows out fresh air thus not much smell in the room and posibly no smell at out outside the room right?

eh.. the wall connect straight to outside... yea I just wanna make sure my neibours wont be able to smell them thats all, oh and i am only going to grow 1 or 2 plants, will, say 3 plants smell significantly more than just 1?

Use a carbon filter as a scrubber in the room and another carbon filter on your exhaust blower intake. Sized properly it will stop odor. How much you can cool thru a dryer vent is the issue. 4" ??

I think if you can stretch to the cost of a tent, do it. It's much easier to controll the whole environment, temp, humidity, light that way. Or if you're a bit handy, build a cab/convert a wardrobe or and old fridge even.
I would be inclined to pay out for hardware now, and take cheaper options on consumables, ie soil, nutes etc. You can have a successful grow without spending a fortune on branded dirt and fertiliser. It's not what most people will tell you, mind. I think initial investment should be on kit, not cannabis specific soil, nutes etc.
as snaps, joe and green said re the filter.
1 or 3 plants probably wont make much difference, gonna stink at the end...

I have absolutely no idea what so ever... I swear i did lots of research and I still dont understand anything about it...
I just got home from home depot and the guy told me to get a bathroom vent fan and that would work the best but I dont even know how can you connect that thing to the carbon filter...
Sorry for sounding like a complete lazy ass moron... but is there any tutorial for setting up the venting system and what parts I did for it?
I saw a lot of DIY carbon filters and there is actually no explanation about how to set up the exaust and how to connect them together :(
PS: I major in biology and Im getting average 3.7 for my GPA so I really dont believe I am a "stupid" person.. in fact this is the first time I feel this much struggle towards having something done properly... please forgive my stupidity :/ )

Ah! Yea I think I ll go get a tent, I can grow some tomato or cucumber even if at some point I wont be growing pot no more, which imo wont be happening ever ;)
I also read lots of info online that people tend to think "northern light #5" smells really natural and some people dont notice the smell during followering unless they walk to it close enough.
I m using northern light #5 so i ll in person prove if that saying is ture or off.
Anyway, thanks so much for all the in put! Really helpful!

If it gets way too stinky, get a cat and leave the litter tray outside the door of the room. Never clean it out. Problem solved. :D
