How to store seeds?

I'm soon to be going on a first time grow but at the moment I need to store my seeds. I had a last minute decision that I want to get a carbon filter but I won't get paid for a couple weeks (I'm a construction worker ie paid by project completion) so how should I store my seeds?

I read freezing them or in a fridge or whatever but I feel like that would kill the seeds??

Right now they're just chillin in what they came in and in my dark room temp closet

Nope. no death in the fridge, it's a perfect place. Think about it, do seeds which fall from trees/flowers die over the Winter?

You won't need that carbon filter for the first month, go ahead and germ those seeds.

I think it's important to keep their environment (temp/humidity) stable. I put mine in a small airtight 2-dram jar (sold at the smoke shop, I think they're for concentrates). I add a layer of rice grains which absorb moisture. I seal the jars inside a plastic container which I believe keeps the temps of the jars more stable as the refrig temp fluctuates as the door opens and closes. (A buffer.). I put all that in a brown paper bag to keep them dark during to the infrequent door openings.

It may not be necessary. But, it's not a lot of effort.

Storage short term ..less than 2 months should be done in the fridge with half a jar of raw uncooked rice, this is to suck up any moisture, any longer then to the freezer again use rice or the sachets you get in tablet bottles

Put the rice in a breathable bag. Like the one you get with hour laundry tablets etc. Same principal as a packet of silicon you find in various foods and shoes etc.

I saw a video on Spanish seed producers and he was asked the same question. His answer was that he stored his beans at 40 degrees F. Good enough for me. BigSteve.
