growing 12 plants under a 1000w light in a 5x5 space. i will have them in 3.5g buckets in a row of 3 with 4 pots in each row. these plants will be taken from another clone.

how would i go about this to make the most efficient use of my space and light.

im going to use 42w cfls for the first week or so and then switch to a 1000w mh. how long should i veg with the cfs and what height should the plants be? how long should i veg with the metal halide and how tall should the plants be before flipping to 12/12? should i top for 2 main colas or should i top for 4 main colas with the space allowed? sorry if that sounded robotic, trying to cover everything in mind to lay some general backbone of the whole process lol

well plants double in size when in flower, so depending on how far your light will hang down go with half of that (to veg)

i would probaly veg with the cfls for a couple of weeks and then put that 1000 watter far away from the top as possible, so not to burn it.

but thats just my opinion :bigjoint:

do i want to veg for a couple of weeks or wait for the plant to grow to a specific height before switching it to the metal halide?

All about plannin your garden, if you want 2 to 3 foot plants flip em at a foot, if you want 4 colas top em at the second true node after they show 5 or 6 nodes (mature enough to handle the stress) if you want 8 to 10 colas top em above the 5th node after they show 7

if you top em give em a week to recover (maybe 2) before you flip em to flower

also, another quick question.

would a 18 1/2"L x 22 1/2"W x 7 1/4"T reflector hood be able to cover a 5x5 grow area? its a sun system yield master ii

Yes, it's all about how high you put it, most will tell you to cram it down the plants throat, not needed and stresses the plant

Best to get a light meter and give the plant what it wants :bigjoint:

if youre referring to my previous post, i was talking about cfls to mh. if youre referring to my first post, ill probably top for 4 main colas but the new question that goes to that is if the topping for 4 colas exceed the 5x5 space
