HPS 1600w 12 Pot IWS System!

Welcome to the thread!

After doing a few CFL grows I'm upgrading to a 12 Pot IWS system. Flowering room equipment is as follows:

- 2x 600w Coolshades + 1x 400w Coolshade
- Extract 150mm Ruck Fan
- Intake 100m Ruck Fan

The space is 2m x 2m x 1.5m.

I want to be able to have 12 plants in veg, 12 plants in flower and a mother. The vegging plants and mother plant will be kept in a different room.

My problem is how do I veg 12 plants in a separate room for 8 weeks and then transfer them into the IWS system in the flower room. I don't want to have to buy another IWS system if possible. NFT system?

Also, has anyone got any ideas or seen some good threads on design for this room? Any budget is fine, want it to be professional!

Where do you guys extract the heat from the room and how do you do it?

Any help is appreciate!!

Well the best advice I can give you based on what you said is to run a metal halide in the 400w reflector. It will give you better buds. Then obviously run hps in the 600s.

Peace,
IF

Thanks for your reply IF!!

Anyone else using 2x 600w HPS and a 400w MH to supplement?

What's the advantage to using the 400w MH over the HPS? Surely HPS has more coverage and lumens?

Hi, I had the same problem with where to veg, I used a flood and drain tray and placed the 4inch rock wool cubes on top of clay pebbles, I ran a dripper to each plant to drip on top of the cube. Unfortunately the roots grew down in to the clay and formed some hefty rootballs. When I came to transplant them the roots got damaged in the process as burying them gently back in to the baskets was really difficult, the growth was stunted for a week and they never grew like the ones that were in the system before. As I had a massive haul from the last one I couldn't be bothered to carry on because it was at a different property and not at home so they got pulled and the room was turned off. Huge mistake, that was four months ago and I'm all out of bud!!! :-(

Anyway, it's up and running again, they are 3 weeks in from seed, Started in 1 inch then to 4 inch for a week and now in the iws and roots have just appeared through the mesh buckets.

I would strongly recommend only growing in rock wool 4 inch cubes until you can get the plants in to a iws mesh bucket and pot so the roots can develop and there's no transplanting to do just hand water them if you can't afford the whole system, after all the main cost of an iws is the brain and timer, the buckets are cheap, I have also installed an air stone in each pot that comes on when they flood because last time, during the last week of flowering the roots went bad. And don't use a filter in each bucket, they slow the flood down massively and can clog up and fuck the whole thing up.

So in answer to your question. Use iws mesh pots and the buckets and just hand water in those until you can afford a brain and timer for your veg room.

Oh and I must say compared to all the different ways I have grown, soil, nft, f+d table. My iws system was the best thing I ever brought!

Oh I extract to 2 different rooms in the house to spread out the heat and intake from another room that has the window cracked open all the time, few holes in the wall but worth while. Ideally extract through the chimney if you have one. NEVER extract directly outside, helicopters can detract a heat spike coming from your house and if ur the only guy in the street doing it then it will look unusual.
