HPS 600w 4x AK-48 from Nirvana first time grow

Goodday rasta fellas! :peace:

I've been planning to do this for months and finally got all the "ingredients". 600W HPS Osram, peat pots for young seedlings and big pots when they will become bit bigger, 5 seeds of AK-48 and a space to grow. I'm going to grow 4 seeds inside and 1 seed outside (in my greenhouse) to see where it will grow better. As for nutrients I am planning to use organics (such as pigeon poo). I am using my small swimming pool in the basement as the grow space: it has ventilation, proper temperature, high humidity. Planning to keep em for 2 months in veg with 18/6 cycle.

If you have any suggestions - it will be much appreciated :eyesmoke:

**I will be updating the first post with new results so newcomers won't have to scroll all the way down :)

Seeds have successfully germinated (paper towel method) and I've planted them in small peat pots. It took 3 days to actually start growing (pretty fast I think?). While they are in peat pots I am watering them by putting pots in a plastic container with water and let em soak till the soil is nice and moist. Then I am watering when soil feels really dry.

Here are some pictures (taken using phone, sorry):

Thanks for reading! :bigjoint:

I suggest starting to lower that light a little every day, you don't want to get stretchy. If you have a florecent light, I might switch that out and put it inches from the seedlings instead, if not, just get it down slowly but not too slow to get stretched.

As far as humidity, you'll want a temp/hum gauge in the room, don't let it get over 55% during veg, I like mine at 45%, so you'll prob need a de-humidifier.

I grew 6 of Nirvana's AK48's my last turn, and really dig the bud. Its a great daytime high, you can still function well. I had 2 of them get the cherry pheno, it smells awesome in the jar after a 30 day cure. They're a super easy, forgiving strain. Don't be shy with the nutes late in the flower stage, I really let them have it, and they just ate every drop. They respond well to topping/training. It was a pretty good yeilder, and if I grew them again, I'd do Nugbuckets supercropping method of main-lining......you can see it in Subtool's forum in organics.

Goodday! :joint:

Day 8:

Seedlings grown quite tall and their roots already showed up from pot's bottom. I've transplanted them to bigger pots and planning to give em nutrients after 2 weeks. During transplantation no roots were damaged, 2 seedlings were too tall so I planted them deeper then the others. I have doubts in light's height now: should I lower it? Here are the pics:

Thanks in advance!

You really would be well served to go to Lowes and pick up 4 23 watt 6500K CFLs and one about 2 inches above each plant. It is a small investment and you'll get better growth during this early stage.

Hmm, I guess I can arrange that but what bout MH bulb? I can get one but will it be better for this stage?

Those CFLs will be better. Check my grow journal to see the results. My first two weeks were under 23 watt 6500K CFLs.

I don't really want to make a whole growbox for cfl's when I can just order MH bulb so I can place it a bit lower to the plants?

Just finished setting CFLs up. Had some problems with positioning but there is nothing duct tape can't fix. Please tell me what you think about em! bongsmilie

Pics(sorry for quality, phone can't really handle all the light):

Day 16:

Everything looks good except for damaged one, but he ain't dying... Link Others look nice and healthy but I see a little bit of curling on the edges, is that a problem? Also should I start giving my nutrients or wait one more week? Thanks!

Hey, thanks for bumping. Just saw the uodates.

Glad you got the CFLs. You will be too. Did you get the 6500K? Remember to have good air flow and to keep them close.

Heya, I didn't found a suitable 6500k CFL's (they were about 6 watt each) so I took 4 2400k with 25 w each (I read on some forums that difference in K's won't cause any harm to plants or make them worse?) Gonna order a MH bulb now

Cheers! :leaf:

Week 3:

2013-05-19 19.20.55.jpg2013-05-19 19.21.24.jpg2013-05-19 19.22.02.jpg2013-05-19 19.22.20.jpg

So I moved my ladies to the attic (humidity in the basement was too high). Damaged plant died (R.I.P.) and strangely enough, lamp that fell on it stopped working as well. So far plants look healthy except for the one in the middle. It has some yellow lines on the leaves and there is a little bit of curling:

Maybe it needs some nutrients? I'm gonna start giving em some tomorrow. If you see anything wrong can give me a hint, please do! :eyesmoke:
