HPS Distance

Ive been flowering 2 females for 2 weeks under a 250W HPS bulb. I was wondering the safe distance to keep the bulb away from the top? I have it at about a foot above maybe a bit more right now. It seems to be doing fine but I want to make sure Im maximizing my lumens. I remember learning this before I started growing but by the time you get to flowering youve forgotten.

I have a 600 hps in my room, I have it about 12 inches from tops, they don;'t appear to be stressed, I have a fan blowing just over tops and 1 blowing up at light

hmm, i just have one fan blowing between the plants and light

the rule is 1 foot. but try to get a fan blowing out , inbertween the top of plants and lite, if you blow a fan on the lite , you may get closer, just be carfull.

i usually hold my hand at the top of my plants for a minute or so - if my hand remains comfortable the plants are usually safe (1000w - air-cooled w/fan blowing on it)
