HPS for VEG

I know you can VEG with HPS but have really never heard the results of doing it that way.

If you've grown with HPS for veg and another setup to veg with like flouro's or metal halide I'm interested in how it compares.

I am thinking about just going straight HPS, probably getting a MH instead of HPS to veg would make more sense.

well i vegged with my 150w hps, and at first i had them on cfls, blue spectrom cfls to be exact

there was 5 of them and the 2 plants were only about 7 inches tall

i put in the HPS and in 4 days they doubled in height

i dont know about MH but compared to cfls...god damn

it stressess the plants too much during veg so you get more males. thats my theory anyways you wont get preflowers either. so its gotta be the MH for veg then the switch to HPS. :eyesmoke:

vegging under hps makes most plants grow a little stretched out but really it does the trick.what kind of setup are you running.

I beg to differ, my bag seed being grown under HPS alongside the autoflowering plants has shown preflowers.

I'm inclined to agree, the plant is a little stretched but not to the point where it causes problems supporting the weight.
