What do people think about using a HPS for a few weeks of vegging? What have people noticed is the difference between veggin with an HPS as opposed to a MH? And/or lastly, Am i better off getting a Conversion bulb for my HPS set up, or just stickin with the HPS? Thanks a lot in advance. - yota

i vegged my lady under hps man.....i can't compare it to MH, coz i've never used one :D . just make sure that the light is well vented and get the bulb as close as possible(without baking the plants ofcourse) to avoid streching . Peace!!! Cheetah

Ive used MH and T5 floro's for veg, but im realizing that its gonna be easier for me to use the HPS for some short veggin. Im wondering what the difference for me would be. Any more tips are welcome..thanks Cheetah

From what I keep reading about grow lights, if you can only have one, its recomended to go with a HPS. It puts out more lumens watt for watt than MH, fyi.

When I first started out I used an MH for veg. and a HPS for flowering but eventually it got easier to use the HPS for the whole grow. I used 24/0 light to keep the plants from stretching, and then just set the timer when I was ready to flower. I think HPS is better than any kind of cfl or Flo.

I don't have any stretching problems.......using a HPS....... just keep the light as close as you can without burning the tops of the plant.

ive used t5 and hps i found that the t5,s used for vegging gave bigger tighter buds, the hps gave not so big plus more stretch, but grew much faster,so they probably equal out.

trapper, did the plants become much bigger with HPS than with the T5...i recently used T5's for veg and my plants are small!! I hope it makes up for it by being tight dense buds, but u got any opinion on it?

the t5,s gave tighter bigger buds after being put under an hps for flowering.,yes.it just that they needed an extra week an 1/2 in veg then when i used the hps for vegging.

Throw in a couple of CFL's for the blues if you re that worried.

Some HPS lamps have extra blues such as the growlush range and are reccomended for an entire grow.
