hps heat question

Yo so I was thinking about getting a 4ft 6 bulb t5, but im wondering if is should just go with a 250 watt hps. Now my question is my closet is 2x4x5, I would have a Honeywell turbo fan blowing air in and my 4 inch inline for exhaust and another small oscillating fan. My temps are around 65-68 (summer temps im not really sure what the winter temps are). The closet is in my basement. Right now im doing a cfl grow and when lights are on its like 70-73 at the most. Would I be able to run a 250 watt hps with no problem and what kind of temps do you think I would see. This is the light that Im looking at. http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-SBC250-250-Watt-Convertible-Reflector/dp/B0054TCCT4/ref=pd_sim_hi_1

I would go with the hps. You want it to be around 80 degrees under the light so transpiration can take place. IMO hps is way better than t5's for flowering. There will be a little more heat but not much. Its fairly easy to keep most rooms cool with only a 250w hps running.

i have the same tent with a 400watt hps. i suggest 400 watt at least. its footprint is 3'x3' at 12-20 inches, perfect for your tent. my temps stay at or lower than 81 also in the basement. i have a 4" inline with a scrubber cooling my 400watt cool tube. i wouldnt get a t5, waste of money compared to an hps/mh. good luck

A 250 hps doesn't put out much heat and a 6 bulb t5 runs closer to 300 watts I believe. I ran a 250hps with remote ballast in a 18" x 30" x 48" wardrobe cabinet and air cooled it with a air vent booster fan and had another small fan for intake and it stayed cool and pulled 6-8oz of quality bud every two months.

I would not suggest a 400 watter in that area. A 250 will be much easier as far as temperature control goes and after a good successful harvest or to if you feel you have head run then upgrade to the 400.

Just gotta get creative at times as a DIY'er.
