HPS in MH fixture?

I'm curious what happens if a person were to put a 400 watt HPS bulb in a 400 watt MH fixture? The light unit obviously states that it is for MH bulb only. Is it only for use with the MH because of the pulse the ballast releases?

I know they make conversion bulbs for HPS to MH.......Do they make a conversion from MH to HPS??? I have 2-400 watt Hydofarm setups and 8-1000 watt HPS hydofarm units (which I don't use) I need a 400 watt HPS.

I guess I could use 2-250 watt standard HPS bulbs from Lowes to achieve what I want. Any ideas or info would be appreciated.

an hps bulb requires an ignitor in the circuit to burn, but i have heard that if u hav an hps light, all u would hafta do is bypass the ignitor and u could burn a mh bulb. I'm tryin 2 figure this out now cuz i got an hps lite, and i need it 2 burn mh

I want to go from MH to HPS for flowering.....I just found a 400 watt bulb on Ebay thats $100.00 that will adapt my MH system to a 360 watt HPS. Any ideas where to find a simiar bulb any cheaper?
