Well I got myself a 400w hps bulb for $20 off ebay. I didn't know that it had a mogul base when I got it so now I'm looking for a mogul socket and I can't seem to find one anywhere. I can buy a steet light and take the socket out of it but I really want to find just a socket for sell. If anyone can help then please do. Thanks.

Also, do you need a ballest for a hps bulb. Well it still work with out one?

You have to have a ballast.
High Tech Garden Supply
$119.95 for the whole system (Ballast, light, reflector, cord, etc.)
That is the cheapest I have found on the net so far.
The light won't do anything for you without the rest of the stuff.

Your bulb and socket are no good to you unless you have the proper ballast.

but hey youv'e got an extra bulb in case one goes out. They don't emphasize the mogul base cause they think you already have a light fixture else why would you need the bulb? its a little specialized.

the bulbs that come standard with htg supplies are not good buy the fixture then get a high quality bulb. about 20% of tonys bulbs fail within 2-8 weeks
i had 3 go out in the first week out of 5 light setups
hardware he sells is pretty rugged
