Im about to start a very small grow room ( maybe 3 plants) and i was wondering if hps or fluorescent grow lights would be better?

If first time and to be cost effective I would go with Cfl's or tube fluro's.
The cfl's are probally the cheapest.
See growfaq... top left.
Hps would be optimal though.

go to the newbie forum and introduce yoursel also so people know who are.

hps will give you faster growth and denser buds, as well as higher yield, if your in a very small area they sell 125 watters and 250's. if your on a budget 3-4 cfls will do just fine.

Get the florscent 4 foot tubes for like 8 bucks good to start pants and veg with. Then use the hps to flower.Dont bother with cfl as to get the right one they cost just as much as a 400 watt hps system.a 250 watt cfl bulb is $90 plus tax and shipping.

Thanks for all the input, I got a cheap 400watt ballast off ebay for hps lights got a ceramic 5kv socket, just need to get the bulb now and Ill probably end up making the reflector myself since most i have seen are like 30 - 150$ which is nuts

If your going to veg. grow them for more then a month then your going to need a HPS, but if your going to grow kinda like The SeaOfGreen way afew flo's will do it . but the best light of all is still the sun

grow room is maybe 9' x 6' but i will prolly section off the area where the plants / lights are to smaller. Im just going to grow a few plants no sea of green or anything trying to keep it real simple for first time.

hey guys , ive been surfing everywhere for some Fluo advice for my veg/clone table.

I´ve got access to Hardens at the local aquarium store and room for 2 pair 4ft 40 watts

Ive been lookin at theyre color spectrums on the website and somehow im convincing myself that a combo between PowerGlo and Aqua Glo would cover the entire blue range and even offer some peaks in the red range , which frankly seems nice.

What do you guys think? Is there a better more efficient Harden combo ? (being its the only brand i have easy acces to).

orrr should i just go for a standard cool white and warm white in pairs from the local scrap store?

the hardens somehow make me think ill be gettin a bang for my buck

thanx a ton in advance for the advice =)
