Where am i deviating from raw science at its simplest, above 70% you will cause the plant to alter morphology but you'll also get mold, within these confines of normal climates that plants grow in humidity means very little, more somthing new growers jump...

I’m no botinist or anything but I’ve noticed in the winter time when things are bone dry that my plants slow down and just don’t seem to be as healthy looking. Even with good temps. And I’m the summertime when it heats up and we go without rain and the ac is kicking on more the plants don’t seem to handle the heat as well with low humidity. When I went to led the summertime low humidity wasn’t a problem anymore. In the winter I would add humidity.

You are right. They did get overwatered some time back. These where cull plants. My good ones went outside. They got overwatered because I had to neglect them in the middle of an ongoing divorce and my wife tried to kill everything and destroy all my lights. And those lights are pulling 600w from the wall so not exactly what I call weak.

And those lights got spray painted black and smashed off the wall with a wooden mop handle. Cleaned up real nice

Dont rate leds till you produce unwatered plants, hps requires peak health, of course leds and humidity and acs favour weak plants, another misomner around here when i see a lot of grows...

Unwatered? Like this? That is the same plant 4 weeks ago in a solo cup that is in the orange 5gal hempy in the other photo. I told you they had been neglected due to my situation at home with divorce, dhs, the da, and the cops. I would say it looks pretty fucking good today for me being a dumb rookie growing with weak ass led lights

Yeah they are pretty damn healthy from what they where April 25 in that last pic. The first pic was taken May 23. They were transplanted from the solo cups about 3-3.5 weeks ago. These were the 2 culls that got left in the cab and not tend to do to what I was going thru. Going to have some good tomatoes off of them before long.

From my last grow till mow, t5's and hps, i only veg 4 weeks, you all know my setup and conditiona, i misswd a bud shot from the hps

Im merely average but one easily noticed thing is the better ive got theceasier it is to run hps cause use to be a point where it fried everything but now plants love it :-)

No matter where ive lived in the world indoor temps have always been the same, guess im not that cheap to make my family live in shitty conditions....

18c to 20 c indoor temps is pretty cool. I normally have the house temp between 24 and 28c.

as I said, England is a pretty cool place (yes, ive been). I would not call living in those temps ideal...it never gets to swimming weather for a start.

My grow room gets fed ambient air temp so in summer it will see low 40's C ( I then run my LED veg light) and in winter as low as 16C (change out my LED veg light)
HPS flower light is on all year.

Can I ask, why would you want to get the light that close anyway?. It blocks light distribution as far as I can tell. Or maybe your mid buds make up for it?.

Canopy temp partly. I'm in Autumn and my canopy temp is about 20C at this height, if I went higher my canopy temp would probably be less ideal.

I think the "blocks light distribution" is a moot point if we are in a reflective tent. I have pulled a pound from a single 600HPS in a 3.5 x 4 ft Scrog and as we know Scogs are all about the tops. I'm no expert and this was my first indoor run in like 25 or so years.

As far as I'm concerned I'm happy to run a low distance but I do keep an eye out for any discomfort and wont run low on a young plant.

Running my 1kW HPS 12/12 costs me 35 dollars a month. $70 for 24/0. Add 500 watts for 12 hours a day (window ac) and thats 17 dollars a month. Add the fans at around 300 watts 24/7 and that's 21 dollars a monthand that's 73 dollars a month flowering. 2 months in flowering, $146. Add the light being on 24 hours for veg, if I run a 1 month veg, that's $108. So all together, $254 of energy for a setup that can yield of 2 pounds once I get experience and find a strain I like that is a good performer. That includes the lights, fans, and AC. Electricity is only 9.6 cents/kilowatt hour here. I don't see how I can justify spending 800 bucks and up on a setup that will be 200 watts less on lighting, thus saving me only a little on cooling. I'd be much better off getting a better hood (raptor more than likely) and a good 8inch extractor fan to go with said hood for my 5x5. I do realize that this solution doesn't work for everyone, as far as I know, I enjoy some of the cheapest electricity in the country.

The advantages of led are not neccasarily on the energy cost per say.
if your running 1k of HID and you swap to the same 1k of LED then you now have a space that's1/4 to a 1/3rd larger. Thus your yields for the same 1k wattage would be 1/4 to a 1/3 more.
That's the kicker with LED, you get more canopy for the equivalent W.

And yes your not heating a gas so its slightly cooler. A w of light is a w of heat, the heat saving is in the not having to heat a gas like you do in HID.

Yeah I had thought that (regarding the heat) and it would look a lot cleaner in any grow room....but what I am trying to say, is the setup I have doesn't have me in a position where I would really benefit from being about to light more space for the same energy. 2 pounds, once I get that dialed in, is more than enough for my needs. It would be silly for me to go and drop a grand on a setup like that, in my circumstances at least. I don't see how anyone growing strictly for personal consumption would have different needs. I can totally see it if they are growing to sell. There was a time that type of user accounted for the majority of growers you would run into online, but oh, how things have changed

I hear ya and agree.
but people are switching from 1k DE to QB for the yield. There's a few on here getting 4 per light...and yes they are probably selling.
Nothing wrong with selling, I smoke fk all and grow cause I love it...and the small profit that comes with it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with selling either...About those QB's, are people vegging and flowering with one kit at 3000k or something? It'd be best to have a veg at 4000k and a separate flowering board at 2700k yeah? Double ouch. With HID you just gotta buy a different bulb...not an entirely new kit, and that's at minimum, if you're changing the light out come flower. Ideally you'd want to have a separate tent though, which is more $$$, although it would enable perpetual growing. The only way I'd be able to afford that is if I were selling, but I don't see that happening, no reason other than I don't think I'd be any good at it. I got into this to begin with to grow medical for my dad. He used to smoke back in the day, now he has parkinsons, I'm hoping I can help him some, but not sure if he's even interested yet...

because each led can be a different spectrum you grow and veg with the same light. You can custom build them as much as you like.
Have a GOOD search in the led sections. I'm not right up on it, its a tad confusing for a simpleton like me to be honest. But it will be the future. Maybe not in the warehouse commercial grows for a few years but its coming.

GL with your dad, parkinsons is not nice. I'm growing a CBD Shark for pain relief for a few people I know, and I dont know if they will even try it,

I run hps at those higher room temps easily, point in question.
