I bought two 70watt hps lights today took em home and put them in the fixtures i was prevously using for my other lights and they didnt work. they say they can withstand up to 150watts so why dont they work? do you need a special type of lighting fixture to run hps lights? if so what kind and where can i get em?

I'm confused. HID lamps (HPS and MH) *have* to be matched. The bulb needs to be say 70W and the ballast needs to be 70W. ANd HPS bulb for HPS ballast (same for MH)

Did you just buy a bulb and tried to screw it into a normal lamp? That can't be done.

(MFG's should change the bulb bases to at least mogul for all HID lamps to avoid this)
