HPS Questions

Hi i a trying to figure out hps lights, so what i am asking is, i want a 150 watt hps light i found a few things online but since i have never used a hps light before i a asking you guys to guide me in the right direction.

and do i just needa socket to fit the bulb (like and e40 fitting), then plug the socket into the ballast then into the wall, or have i overthinked this?

is money an issue here? if not try to get a dimmable 400w or even a 250w, i tried looking for a complete 150w grow light for you but have had no success since your in the uk. Is it possible for you to get a light shipped from the us and then get a converter for the plug in?

Also you will need a socket that can connect to your ballast, youll most likely have to wire it yourself though.

you would need a reflector and probally a socket for the bulb and I don't know how you would rig that thing to a timer. I would go with a 400w light atleast thats if you don't smoke too much cause with 1 light the quickest you'll harvest is 3 months and you probally be getting bit less then 200 grams your first time off a 400w hps. basicaly for beginners you should expect less then .5 grams per watt of light with an hps but after a year or 2 and learning a few tricks you can get 1 gram per watt even more later on is possible. so I would say your looking at less than 75 grams off that 150w hps every 3 months but you can drop it down with a small cfl veg room.
your best place find a grow light is a hydro shop you can plug them right into the wall. I know in the states you can get a 400w hps with every thing including the bulb for $120 online.

Thanks for the reply and looking online for me, money is kind of an issue under 150 british pounds would be ideal, but i think ill look more into this once i have my first full cfl grow out of the way, for experience, and making sure i will enjoy growing.
