How's it eveyone? Aloha to all my fellow growers out there, coming at you from the Big Island in Hawaii. So I just bought two new strains, HSO trainwreck ( 5 fems) and GHS's Lemon Skunk ( 5 fems), with #2 Sour Diesel, Northern Lights x Skunk Cross, all freebies from Attitude.

First off with myself ordering seeds from the UK to Hawaii, took a little over 16 days, got held up in customs for 10 days, then finally they moved to another sorting post office in NYC, finally 4 days after that I got my beans

.

I have never grown any of HSO's strains or GHS, both breeders I have read up have gotten mixed rants and raves. HSO being so new, it did not have much info, so thus I want to help provide my fellow growers with knowledge of this particular Trainwreck strain. Of the 5 seeds of the TW, 3 have cracked in 24 hours, using the paper towel method, and 3 GHS LS have cracked as well. What I do is veg inside, on a 18-6 cycle, in a 4x4x6 grow tent, with a 250 mH, with a 4" vortex exhaust. I know I will get grief for not having a bigger light, but where I live on the island, being so close to the ocean, it gets hotter than a rattlesnakes taint out. So, thus I choose to only run a 250 watt because of the heat, and it does good for roughly 5 plants vegging till about 4 feet high. Once they are ready to go outside, I transplant them with promix and perlite, while using a Tropical slow release fert, 16-16-16, and also use fox farm organic bloom. I will send pics once they sprout, crossing my fingers and toes on that. Much mahalos, and I would appreciate it if anyone could help me out on the understanding of the necessity for a "Fert program" for a soil grow, I could never understand dropping 300 bucks on 10 different bottles of various ferts.

Not quite sure I understand the fert program reference since you seem to have a handle on feeding them.

The grow sounds amazing, but 4' tall with a 250 mh? I grow plants half that height with a 400 hps. The lower growth can't be receiving much light.

Does your outdoor space have room for growing bushes? I always wondered if a trained plant with dozens or hundreds of primary tops would out yield An untrained plant. Hope to find out someday.

Grow sounds great, I'll be following along.

Well, ya I am feeding them I guess lol, but I always have other growers (at my local hydro shop), tell me to use a fert program through out the entire stage of the plants life cycle. I.e. Flora Nova fert program. Ya 4' does seem pretty tall for an mH, but i usually veg 3-4 plants out that tall at a time, just so they can get some stretch. I use a cool tube with a bat wing reflector, so I can get a descent amount of spread from my light. I do use the FIM technique to make them a little bushier, especially indica dominant strains, I will usually tie down sativas in veg and FIM them as well.

My outdoor grow space could def. handle bushy plants, but brown mold is such a problem, I will usually make them semi-bushy and tall for good aireation. We get so much damn rain on this island that most anti-mold applications wash off by night fall. FYI, I have compared non trained plants and trained (FIM technique) , and I would say the more nodes the better, sometimes 3x as much yield if done correctly. Granted your nugs will be smaller, but with the proper tie downs for the correct light exposure and airiation it is an amazing technique, with alot less stress to plants. A hui hou!

Update 10/10/2012. All four HSO trainwreck seeds have now popped up through the soil and have to baby green leaves, also, 5 GHS Lemon Skunk have sprouted as well. HOOORAY! FFOF has not seemed to stunt or burn the seedlings to the point of death. Will keep you updated from the Big Island. Indy out!

I'm also growing hso Trainwreck making with ak easyryder..hso chemdawg..and cheese candy from attitude.400/watt mh/hps with all foxfarm nutes.Started in Light Warrior soiless.Today is day 20...and my girls are 10 inches ' with 5 sets of nodes. The auto showed sex @ day 13!! I've done cfl grows and strait hps.....but my new htg MAGNETIC..NOT DIGI light has shown me the way.My boy from Maui says same thing about the heat and hid issues.....to bad.Anyway.....hso genetics seem time be very strong.only issue is Trainwreck looks indicia dominant...although description says it's sativa dominant.Either way.....best looking babies yet.Vest of luck with your pakalolo.

Thanks hugh manape! I am gonna try my best, I just updated all of my grow stuff. I think I am going to use a 400 W HPS for the whole grow, but with a cooltube and a 6 in fan, it keeps it stable at 84 F or below, only on really hot days does it get up to 85+, but on days like that I will throw in a frozen milk jug (frozen with water) next to my fan. HTG has some great products, I wish I could get more, but they never give me a break on shipping, even when it is free, usually at least 50 bucks. I will post some pics soon so you guys can give me your opinions. ALoha!

Here is a pic of the girls at 12 days! That one clone on the side was a clone my friend game me called "Dutchman's Passion". Btw sorry for the shitty quality picture.

  • Update: Girls as of yesterday. So this should be around 22 days, I FIMed all of them, so they are set back about a week. All of the HSO trainwrecks look really indica, and mostly sativa for GHS Lemon Skunk. Enjoy the pics
