HTGSupply.com's T5 HO 4'-8 lamp vs. Quantum's T5 Badboy HO 4'-8 lamp

The Quantum is more expensive but is it necessarily better? Are the bulbs and fixture better quality and worth the extra $$? The Badboy folds up which is kind of nice. The HTGSupply uses AgroMax bulbs. Ever heard of them? Are they good?

Found the 8 bulb bad boy on ebay shipped for 244 bucks,a guy called norcal on ebay bro has the cheapest lights,make sure they come with bulbs,some of the prices are without bulbs

I vote quantum, got a 12 bulb badboy going for my veg room.. I like very much.

How do you know they're junk? Do you have firsthand experience with them? I think I want to get the Badboy fixture but get the cheaper HTGSupply AgroMax bulbs. They're half the price.

I think their bulbs are overpriced. The Badboy bulbs are $75 shipped for 8. The AgroMax are $46 shipped for 8. I want to save when I can. I'm on a budget. Do you think the bulbs are lower quality or what. How do you know they're not made by the same manufacturer just with a different branding?

don't listen to mr.therapy htg supply is not junk I have all my lights from them and they are great Good customer service fast shipping and most important a good product I know this from experience my buddy went out and bought the most expensive bulb he could find and I just used the agromax bulb when he seen my garden he was really let down that he spent 260 more for his 1000. Setup only to get a lil bit better results save your money that u can put into a bettering ur garden

The more expensive the ballast the cheaper ur light bill should be vs magnetic ballast but also better to run 220v less of a draw from 110v that's the only difference

I thought all T5 fluorescent fixtures have electronic ballasts anyway. Right?

I use a pioneer VIII and love it.

The extra cost of the Badboy comes primarily from their use of the more expensive fulham racehorse ballast instead of the workhorse ballast.
They also use the best reflectors.
These are the areas that manufacturers cut corners on to produce lower cost products and they do directly impact performance.
Pricing the racehorse ballasts (retail) you wouldn't save any money building it yourself from parts over the best deal available on the web.

You need to shop more for tubes. Quantum tubes can be found for a lot less than $75.

love my HTG SUpply

i to just picked up an 8 bulb BB..i got it used for 125 w bulbs, but there only 24w. i was curious on those agromax from htg..there bout half the price of the BB bulbs.. are they any good,would rather drop the 40 than 70.
